Ditching a data strategy that dilutes dedication to customers
Girbau designs innovative laundry solutions for a global world—using a local approach. That’s because people in more than 130 countries rely on the brand’s washers, dryers, and other appliances at their local laundromats as well as hospitals, gyms, and hotels. So, Girbau strives to understand exactly what its customers—and their customers—need at a personal level on a daily basis.
To better connect with people and anticipate their demands, Girbau relies on data. The company also needs data to operate a complex business network including manufacturing plants in Catalonia, France, China, and the United States, as well as 17 subsidiaries. However, its data landscape was complicated, spanning multiple disparate technology solutions. Its enterprise software couldn’t provide the on-demand analytics the company needed to operate with agility and speed in response to evolving customer needs and industry challenges.
A lack of visibility complicated many core processes that impacted customers and long-term profitability. For example, Girbau didn’t have enough insight into its service operations, including how much time field agents spent on the road versus repairing products.
To help it make better decisions in the moments that matter most to customers, Girbau wanted to create a unified view of data across the business.

Scrubbing out uncertainty with data-driven decision-making
Girbau chose SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) and the SAP Datasphere solution, a key pillar of the SAP Business Data Cloud solution, to modernize the SAP Business Warehouse application and create a modern foundation for sustainable growth.
SAP Datasphere enables Girbau to deploy a modern business data fabric architecture, providing a consistent and unified view of data by breaking down silos across SAP and third-party systems. Using the SAP Analytics Cloud solution, Girbau gains advanced analytics and real-time insights that enhance decision-making processes.
Additionally, SAP BTP lays the foundation for uninterrupted implementation and integration. SAP Integration Suite, part of SAP BTP, integrates multiple APIs and applications, which helps ensure reliable connectivity and data exchange between solutions and systems across the business. SAP partner SEIDOR provided integration expertise that made the project a success.
The company uses SAP Build solutions to create built-for-purpose logistics and manufacturing applications with the SAP Fiori user experience. The SAP Build Apps development environment has empowered Girbau’s teams to work with data and processes, enhancing productivity and responsiveness in customer service, logistics, and at client facilities. By surfacing new insights and streamlining workflows, these apps enable employees to deliver a unique, tailored service that exceeds customer expectations.
The combined power of SAP solutions strengthens Girbau’s data management, analytics, integration, and application development capabilities (see the figure).
Powering analytics, boosting automation, and reducing machine downtime
Girbau’s turnover increased from €145 million in 2023 to €209 million in 2024. SAP BTP has been and will continue to be an important part of this growth.
With this modern platform, Girbau has boosted sales and service processes, especially those that rely on data for timely decision-making.
Unified data has also empowered Girbau to boost its automation initiatives. Previously, 95% of relevant data was hidden—now, it’s holistically available to the solutions Girbau uses to keep customer machines operational. Automation has increased by 40% across production and service processes, freeing up resources and enhancing response times. Faster service delivery means customers are happier than ever.
Machine downtime at customer sites is lower too. The 30% reduction has improved customer satisfaction by minimizing disruption to their own businesses. By enabling business continuity, Girbau is building customer trust.
All these improvements contribute to Girbau’s profitability, which the business can more easily measure and predict with powerful analytics. Entirely new profitability metrics provide strategic visibility that informs refined strategies for business operations.
Creating a more sustainable future with each laundry cycle
Looking ahead, Girbau aims to advance its digital transformation by leveraging SAP Business Data Cloud. This strategic move will centralize data and support Girbau’s six key ecosystem pillars, enhancing its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
By integrating SAP Business Data Cloud, Girbau can unify operations from R&D to after-sales service, better ensuring data-driven decisions. This is designed to break down data silos, enabling real-time insights from customer interactions, service calls, and IoT devices. The goal is to anticipate customer needs, optimize maintenance, reduce machine downtime, and innovate product design, ultimately enhancing customer experiences and operational efficiency. On top of that, the improved solutions will enhance the employee experience with a data-driven culture, fostering collaboration and effective decision-making across departments.
In a world focused more and more on sustainability, Girbau is constantly thinking about ways to reduce water and energy consumption. SAP solutions will be central to aligning with the company’s sustainability mission. Girbau’s adoption of SAP Business Data Cloud signifies a cultural transformation, positioning the company as a leader in sustainable innovation. This initiative aims to deepen customer relationships, create eco-friendly products, and contribute to water preservation, reinforcing Girbau’s positive impact on customers, employees, and the environment.
