Coca-Cola HBC: How Did a Major Leap in Supply Chain Visibility Fuel a Customer-Centric Approach?

As one of the world’s largest bottling partners of The Coca-Cola Company, Coca-Cola HBC operates in a complex landscape. It aims to be the leading 24x7 beverage partner, growing with customers by ensuring it has a beverage for every occasion around the clock. However, achieving this vision required a shift from reactive logistical operations to a more predictive approach. Coca-Cola HBC needed a real-time transportation visibility solution that would help it streamline logistics, enhance collaboration with carriers, and improve on-time deliveries to customers.
In a three-month project, Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company AG (Coca-Cola HBC) deployed SAP S/4HANA and used SAP Integration Suite to integrate it smoothly with Shippeo SAS’s real-time transportation visibility platform and other logistics systems. Having onboarded more than 100 carriers and partners across 12 business units in two waves, Coca-Cola HBC can now track deliveries of full truckloads in real time, reducing transport costs while improving service levels and on-time delivery.

Shippeo’s machine learning algorithm calculates a precise estimated time of arrival and communicates it in real time to Coca-Cola HBC’s suppliers and customers. Coca-Cola HBC can identify business-critical shipments and react preemptively to possible delays, provide automated proof of delivery, proactively manage transports only by exception, improve processes and asset usage, and keep customers, carriers, and colleagues better informed. Internal and external logistics operations are more flexible and efficient, with better resource planning and fewer manual tasks.
Having achieved its original delivery-tracking rate goals, Coca-Cola HBC is rolling out Shippeo’s visibility platform industry cloud solution to further markets, aiming to increase delivery tracking from 50% to over 70%. It is also using data analytics to improve both service levels and productivity.
