SAP Sustainability Footprint Management offers an ERP-centric approach to calculate product and corporate carbon footprints and integrates the results into business processes through outbound integrations. SAP Green Ledger is a finance solution that SAP launched at the end of Q4 2024. Through the integration of both solutions, customers can align their carbon and financial accounting, enabling smart decision making. SAP Green Ledger allows you to account and allocate financial and carbon data to profit centres, business segments, or other financial dimensions. SAP Green Ledger does not include capabilities to calculate corporate or product carbon footprints.

A product carbon footprint measures the total greenhouse gas emissions across a product’s lifecycle, from raw materials to disposal, per unit. It supports various standards such as PACT, drives low-carbon supply chains such as Catena-X, TfS, and sustainable product design.

 

A corporate carbon footprint captures a company’s total direct and indirect emissions over a defined period. Based on the GHG Protocol (Scopes 1–3), it supports compliance such as CSRD, transparency, and progress toward net-zero targets.
