In Europe, Middle East and Africa all Market Unit Gold winners automatically enter the regional SAP Quality Award competition. For each of the award categories, a judging panel consisting of three - five independent judges, including IT Thought Leaders, Analysts, SAP User Group board members and previous year’s Quality Awards winners will select the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region in February 2017. The regional winners will be announced on April 6, 2017 at the regional SAP Quality Award ceremony at the SAP Headquarters in Walldorf, Germany.

Alexandros Stratis is a research analyst for IDC's European Enterprise Applications program. He covers market analysis, end-user research, competitive dynamics, technology trends, and custom projects in the European enterprise application markets. Alexandros examines the impact of Software-as-a-Service, embedded analytics, new application software buying centers, responsive design, and other trends impacting buying behavior. Markets of particular focus include ERP, CRM, HR, and payroll applications.

Before joining IDC, he was employed as an analyst and consultant with QS Intelligence Unit, focusing on data analysis and performance improvement for universities from around the world. Prior to this, he worked as an economic and policy analyst for Navanti Group and Sidar Global advisors.

Mike Simons

Mike Simons is an editorial consultant and associate editor of ComputerWorld UK and Techworld.com, two of IDG’s main professional IT publications in the UK. For more than a decade he has written extensively on IT management issues, with a particular interest in large scale IT projects, public sector IT and SAP ERP implementations and has received several awards as an IT and business journalist. He works closely with SAP’s user group community in the UK. As a writer and editor, Mike has been responsible for delivering hard hitting news and down-to-earth practical advice to IT professionals on how to do their jobs more efficiently and develop their careers more.

Mike has been on the regional judging panel for the SAP Quality Awards since their inception.

Reidun Høllesli

Orkla IT

Reidun Høllesli joined the Orkla Group in 2011. She is the Director of Business Solutions in Orkla IT. Orkla is a leading supplier of branded consumer goods and concept solutions to the grocery and out-of-home sectors in the Nordic and Baltic regions, Central Europe and India. The company is also a major supplier to the European bakery market and operates in the aluminum, hydropower and real estate sectors.

Reidun has held several roles since she joined the group, including being a  program manager for an SAP implementation program for Orkla Confectionary and Snacks. She was also the IT project owner when Orkla won the Nordic award and an EMEA regional award in 2013 in the Innovation category.

Before joining Orkla, Reidun worked for IBM for 13 years.

Sajan Nair

Sajan Nair

Sajan is the IT Director of HERFY Food Services Company (www.herfy.com), one of the largest fast food chains and food manufacturing companies in the Middle East.

In a career spanning over 25 years, Sajan has been involved in several projects involving IT infrastructural development, strategic planning and business process re-engineering. He has managed successful SAP implementations, including project that have won MENA and EMEA Golden awards for quality.

Sajan has worked in diverse industries including construction, banking, manufacturing and trading and joined the EMEA judging panel for the SAP Quality Awards in 2015.

Torben Iversen
Business Excellence Executive
KMD

Torben Iversen is Bid Excellence Executive at KMD, which is the largest IT company in Denmark with more than 3.000 employees. KMD is privately owned and serves the local government, central government, regional and private sectors with it-solutions.

Torben has a Finance and IT background and has previously been employed as partner and management consultant for the Nordic independent ERP advisory company HerbertNathan & Co, PwC Consulting and PA Consulting Group. He has worked with project management, quality assurance and implementation of ERP systems for more than 20 years.

His involvement in a large number of SAP projects covers both the private and public sector, where he has assisted companies in all phases of the project - before acquisition, during implementation and in operation.

Torben has served as a quality advisory role for SAP implementations at many Nordic companies and has a long history of working with SAP. Torben has been judging the SAP Quality Awards for a number of years both as local judge in the Nordic and Baltic countries and as part of the Regional Judging Panel.

Wayne Johncock
SAP Independent Executive Advisory Council Member
SALACA Management Limited

Wayne Johncock is a member of the SAP Independent Executive Advisory Council and in this role advises companies on how to maximize benefit from their SAP relationship, how to maximize efficiency and how to drive down costs through standardization and simplification. Wayne has worked in 11 countries helping large companies drive value out of their SAP and technology investment, directing programs ranging from €5m to €250m in his 17 years’ experience.

Wayne was previously CIO at Centrica Corporate – the largest utility in the UK with 27 million customer relationships. He represented Centrica for 5 years on the ACCU (Advisory Customer Council Utilities) and led one of the largest SAP implementations in the Utilities sector – driving simplification and modernization into an ageing landscape over a 5 year period.

His expertise covers innovation and emerging technologies, business and IT integration, system simplification and business transformation and he is a frequent speaker on these topics. Wayne joined the regional judging panel for the SAP Quality Awards in 2014. Originally from Australia, he has lived in the United Kingdom for many years.

Nagarajan Ramanathan

Nagarajan Ramanathan

Nagarajan Ramanathan is a mission-oriented professional with three decades of extensive domain and SAP experience. He has successfully managed several projects in multi-cultural, multi-national environments spanning across Far East, South Asia and Middle East countries.

Naga has specialized in transformation and business process reengineering through ERP implementation in complex, medium-sized organizations across multiple business verticals, including manufacturing (electronics - processing & assembly and textiles), trading (FMCG, food and pharmaceutical), construction and oil & gas services. As a client-side program manager, Naga leads the complete project life cycle, right from strategizing, executing and optimizing the project, to assuring quality and achieving targeted business benefits.

Naga has successfully managed several implementations, which have won the SAP Quality Awards; 2010 Silver in MENA; 2013 Gold in MENA and 2014 Gold in EMEA in the medium implementation category.

He has a Bachelor of Engineering from India, an MBA in project management from USA and is a certified Project Management Professional.

Rinat Gimranov
IT Division Head
Surgutneftegas

At OJSC "Surgutneftegas”, Rinat (Damirovich) Gimranov has been IT Division Head since 1998 and Group Leader Development for SAP solutions since 1999. Oil and gas producer Surgutneftegas is one of the largest companies in the Russian oil sector. It accounts for almost 13% of the country’s crude output and 25% of gas produced by domestic oil companies and supplies Russian refineries, as well as to CIS countries and Western Europe.

Rinat studied at the Electrotechnical Institute of Novosibirsk and specialized in “Electronic Computing Machines” (1989). Since 2007, he also holds an MBA of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) in International Oil and Gas Business.

Marco van de Sandt
Group Chief Information Officer & General Manager
Alfanar

Marco van de Sandt joined the Alfanar Group as Chief Information Officer & General Manager Group IT in 2009. The Alfanar Group, headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, operates construction and manufacturing businesses, design & development centres and a host of facilities in the Middle East, India and Europe with over 22.000 employees.

Marco has over 30 years’ experience in the IT industry and was responsible for several major global IT harmonization projects with SAP solutions. He has Implemented SAP ERP, Human Resources, Business Intelligence, Customer Relationship Management amongst others, for all business functions and built a certified SAP Customer Center of Excellence. Under Marco’s leadership Alfanar Group was an early adopter of private cloud computing in Saudi Arabia. Currently he is responsible for migrating to HANA platform and extending usage of SAP Cloud Services. Before joining Alfanar Group Marco held various positions at Kraft Foods in Europe and the United States including Director IS for Supply Chain, Global Technology & Quality and Product Lifecycle Management.

In 2015 Alfanar Group were the Gold SAP Quality Award winners in the Middle East and Africa market unit and at the regional EMEA level in the Innovative category.

Andreas Flik

Andreas Flik

EnBW

Andreas Flik headed the SAP-strategy management at EnBW AG on group level for more than 10 years. He normatively influenced EnBW todays SAP-strategy and service structures. He graduated from Karlsruhe University with a Master-degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1991. He started his career as entrepreneur focusing on information technology, engineering and later focused on the optimization of grid operations and maintenance for municipal utilities.

In 1995 he joined Badenwerk AG (one of the predecessors of EnBW AG). As a visionary idea, he designed templates for SAP-based best-practice-implementations in Operations- and Maintenance- processes. The usage of new service structures enabled EnBW to provide 3rd-party-business at an early stage. Later on he was responsible for merging the IT- and process landscape of Badenwerk AG and EVS to build todays EnBW AG in 1999.

Subsequently he was promoted head of IT-development department and SAP Customer Competence Center at EnBW Services Company and finally was appointed in 2006 head of strategy division “SAP management” at EnBW group level. Today, Andreas Flik acts as Executive Advisor with current focus on Co-Innovation topics between EnBW and SAP with respect to the energy-turnaround.

Mike Dean

Mike Dean
Director of the SAP UK and Ireland User Group
UKISUG

Mike Dean is a Director of the SAP UK and Ireland User Group. He was one of the original Directors and has also represented the UK on SUGEN, the SAP User Group Executive Network.

Mikes involvement in IT started in the late 1970s when training to become an Accountant in Cost and Management Accounting. Mike joined Distillers Food Group Services as Factories Program Manager to oversee the development and implementation of new systems involving revolutionary prototyping development. 

In 1992 at Cadbury Limited Mike managed a very successful SAP R/3 Finance and Procurement Project, implemented on time and under budget. Mike also led SAP projects in Sales and Distribution, HR and payroll, whilst also consulting on other Cadbury Schweppes companies in the development of their SAP systems.

Mike has since worked for two UK consultancies as a Program Manager and Director. During this time Mike setup and managed the first SAP ALL in One partner in the UK, selling and implementing the first three systems. He has lead the implementation of projects in Central Government, Local Authorities, Universities, Government Agencies, Multi National Implementations, as well as UK based companies.

Mike has served on the SAP Quality Awards Panel in the UK for the past three years.

Alec Joannou
Global CIO
Sasol

Alec Joannou has been involved with SAP since the early nineties. Alec, joined the SAP division of PW which later became PwC, early on in his career and was promoted quickly to head up the SAP Practice for the region. He was the youngest person to be appointed as a partner in the consulting division of region. When IBM acquired PwC Consulting, Alec took on the role of heading up the SAP practice across the merged firms for the region (Africa, Middle East and Turkey). During his time at PwC and IBM the major SAP implementations delivered by his team included Unilever, Roche, Nestle, Sappi, Anglo American and Sasol. In 2005 Alec joined Anglo American as the Southern African CIO and spearheaded the creation of the Anglo American SAP template.

Alec joined Sasol as its global CIO and in April 2012 and under his leadership IM has become much more than just a technology provider to the business but rather a partner to drive business value and collaboration on a global scale. Sasol also delivered a large scale transformational SAP project on time and within budget and won a SAP Quality award for the implementation in 2016.

Alec was the Chairman of the Global SAP Industry Advisory Council for Mining between 2008 and 2010 and sits on the board of a non-profit HIV prevention organisation, CHAPS.

Joannes (Yannis) Vlachos

Joannes (Yannis) Vlachos

The International Telecommunications Union 

Yannis is Head of International Telecommunications Union’s (ITU) ERP & CRM Division. ITU is the United Nations (UN) specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs) and is based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Prior to joining ITU in 2009 Yannis co-founded Ariston Consulting & Technologies, Inc., a San Diego based SAP consulting firm. Ariston was a Certified SAP implementation partner as well as an ESRI, Inc. services partner. In September 2009 Black & Veatch, a global leader in engineering, construction and consulting, acquired Ariston.

In a career spanning 30 years Yannis has managed implementations, upgrades and roll-outs of large and small off-the-shelf software (ERP, CRM) and custom-built solutions in private and public sector using various delivery models. Yannis has a track record in delivering strategic multi-million dollar projects with major impacts on time and within budget, resulting in cost savings and an enhanced ability to offer innovative products and services.

He has successfully managed two implementation projects, which have won the SAP Quality Award: 2010 Gold Winner in Switzerland in the category Small & Midsize Enterprises and 2015 Gold Winner in Switzerland in the category Business Transformation.

Yannis was the Chairman of the UN’s SAP-SIG (SAP Special Interest Group) from 2013 to 2015.

Bernard Bossuyt

Joris Ide

Bernard Bossuyt is ICT manager of Joris Ide, a Kingspan (www.kingspan.com) division focussing on sustanaible building solutions. Bernard is board member of the Belgian SAP user group (www.sapience.be) and is leading the business intelligence work group.

Bernard has a supply chain background as he started his career in manufacturing planning in steel and wood industry. In a career spanning 20 years Bernard has managed in different roles many successful SAP projects in a pan-European geography in various industries including Steel & Wood building, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, Logistics Service Providers. As project and program manager with SAP Belgium he was the lead of business transformation programs in the area of GTS, BI and project planning. In his role as ICT manager he has implemented SAP ERP, Business Objects, MII, Fiori, FSCM, HANA and is now involved in HANA Cloud Platform projects for mobile applications.  

Bernard studied Commercial Engineer at University of Leuven and is a APICS and PMI certified project manager.
