On April 11, 2018 SAP honored the 2017 Regional SAP Quality Awards winners at the Print Media Academy in Heidelberg, Germany

In Europe, Middle East and Africa all Market Unit Gold winners automatically enter the regional SAP Quality Award competition. For each of the award categories, a judging panel consisting of three independent judges, including IT Thought Leaders, Analysts, SAP User Group board members and previous year’s Quality Awards winners will select the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The 2017 regional winners will be announced on April 11, 2018 at the regional SAP Quality Award ceremony and gala dinner in Heidelberg, Germany.


Alexandros Stratis
Senior Research Analyst

Alexandros Stratis is a research analyst for IDC's European Enterprise Applications program. He covers market analysis, end-user research, competitive dynamics, technology trends, and custom projects in the European enterprise application markets. Alexandros examines the impact of Software-as-a-Service, embedded analytics, new application software buying centers, responsive design, and other trends impacting buying behavior. Markets of particular focus include ERP, CRM, HR, and payroll applications.

Before joining IDC, he was employed as an analyst and consultant with QS Intelligence Unit, focusing on data analysis and performance improvement for universities from around the world. Prior to this, he worked as an economic and policy analyst for Navanti Group and Sidar Global advisors.

Mike Simons

Mike Simons is an editorial consultant and associate editor of ComputerWorld UK and, two of IDG’s main professional IT publications in the UK. For more than a decade he has written extensively on IT management issues, with a particular interest in large scale IT projects, public sector IT and SAP ERP implementations and has received several awards as an IT and business journalist. He works closely with SAP’s user group community in the UK. As a writer and editor, Mike has been responsible for delivering hard hitting news and down-to-earth practical advice to IT professionals on how to do their jobs more efficiently and develop their careers more.

Mike has been on the regional judging panel for the SAP Quality Awards since their inception.

Louisa Porter

Located in the UK with a European-wide role, Louisa has worked in the Steel Industry for 25 years. Background in HR with earlier roles in Logistics, Commercial & IT, she is Prince2 qualified and an experienced Business Excellence assessor for Tata Group companies.

Louisa is the HR Owner for SAP Success Factors in Tata Steel Europe and the 2016 Gold award winner for EMEA.  She developed the business case, led the business aspects of the tendering process and was an active member of the Project Board throughout implementation.

She regularly shares her learnings at HR/IT conferences and judged the SAP Quality Awards for Business Transformation projects in UK & Ireland in 2017.  Outside of work she enjoys family life, walking her border collie dog on the beach and is an active supporter of the local community.

Sajan Nair

Sajan Nair
IT Director

Sajan is the IT Director of HERFY Food Services Company (, one of the largest fast food chains and food manufacturing companies in the Middle East.

In a career spanning over 25 years, Sajan has been involved in several projects involving IT infrastructural development, strategic planning and business process re-engineering. He has managed successful SAP implementations, including project that have won MENA and EMEA Golden awards for quality.

Sajan has worked in diverse industries including construction, banking, manufacturing and trading and joined the EMEA judging panel for the SAP Quality Awards in 2015.

Dara Šakić

Dara Šakić

HBIS GROUP Serbia Iron & Steel d.o.o. Beograd

Currently Dara is responsible for the IT Applications Department at  HBIS SERBIA, a well-known producer of steel, hot and cold rolled products and tin plate in southeast Europe. She is a graduate of the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Sciences with degrees in Mathematics and Computer sciences and whole working career she spent at Steel plant on activities of business process enhancements and IS implementation. 

She had many different positions in prior company USS Serbia, Director Global Business Projects BSC EUROPE, Director Transaction Processing Centre BSC EUROPE, Director Commercial Projects. She spent four years in USA (Pittsburgh) as part of the team for implementing global Oracle ERP solution.

 Dara was project manager in SAP ERP project implementation in Zelezara Smederevo. Project has been successfully implemented in six-month timeframe and as recognition for successful implementation the team got a golden medal in competition for projects from Central and East Europe (Quality awards gold winner 2013 for CEE).

Dara has been a part of SAP Quality Awards judging team for region of Central and Eastern Europe since last 4 years.

Wayne Johncock
SAP Independent Executive Advisory Council Member
SALACA Management Limited

Wayne Johncock is a member of the SAP Independent Executive Advisory Council and in this role advises companies on how to maximize benefit from their SAP relationship, how to maximize efficiency and how to drive down costs through standardization and simplification. Wayne has worked in 11 countries helping large companies drive value out of their SAP and technology investment, directing programs ranging from €5m to €250m in his 17 years’ experience.

Wayne was previously CIO at Centrica Corporate – the largest utility in the UK with 27 million customer relationships. He represented Centrica for 5 years on the ACCU (Advisory Customer Council Utilities) and led one of the largest SAP implementations in the Utilities sector – driving simplification and modernization into an ageing landscape over a 5 year period.

His expertise covers innovation and emerging technologies, business and IT integration, system simplification and business transformation and he is a frequent speaker on these topics. Wayne joined the regional judging panel for the SAP Quality Awards in 2014. Originally from Australia, he has lived in the United Kingdom for many years.

Andreas Flik

Andreas Flik
SAP Independent Executive Advisory Council Member

Andreas Flik headed the SAP-strategy management at EnBW AG on group level for more than 10 years. He normatively influenced EnBW today's SAP-strategy and service structures. He graduated from Karlsruhe University with a Master-degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1991. He started his career as entrepreneur focusing on information technology, engineering and later focused on the optimization of grid operations and maintenance for municipal utilities.

In 1995 he joined Badenwerk AG (one of the predecessors of EnBW AG). As a visionary idea, he designed templates for SAP-based best-practice-implementations in Operations- and Maintenance- processes. The usage of new service structures enabled EnBW to provide 3rd-party-business at an early stage. Later on he was responsible for merging the IT- and process landscape of Badenwerk AG and EVS to build today's EnBW AG in 1999.

Subsequently he was promoted head of IT-development department and SAP Customer Competence Center at EnBW Services Company and finally was appointed in 2006 head of strategy division “SAP management” at EnBW group level. Today, Andreas Flik acts as Executive Advisor with current focus on Co-Innovation topics between EnBW and SAP with respect to the energy-turnaround.

Mike Dean

Mike Dean
Director of the SAP UK and Ireland User Group

Mike Dean is a Director of the SAP UK and Ireland User Group. He was one of the original Directors and has also represented the UK on SUGEN, the SAP User Group Executive Network.

Mikes involvement in IT started in the late 1970s when training to become an Accountant in Cost and Management Accounting. Mike joined Distillers Food Group Services as Factories Program Manager to oversee the development and implementation of new systems involving revolutionary prototyping development. 

In 1992 at Cadbury Limited Mike managed a very successful SAP R/3 Finance and Procurement Project, implemented on time and under budget. Mike also led SAP projects in Sales and Distribution, HR and payroll, whilst also consulting on other Cadbury Schweppes companies in the development of their SAP systems.

Mike has since worked for two UK consultancies as a Program Manager and Director. During this time Mike setup and managed the first SAP ALL in One partner in the UK, selling and implementing the first three systems. He has lead the implementation of projects in Central Government, Local Authorities, Universities, Government Agencies, Multi National Implementations, as well as UK based companies.

Mike has served on the SAP Quality Awards Panel in the UK for the past three years.

Alec Joannou
Chief Digital Officer

Alec Joannou has been involved with SAP since the early nineties. Alec, joined the SAP division of PW which later became PwC, early on in his career and was promoted quickly to head up the SAP Practice for the region. He was the youngest person to be appointed as a partner in the consulting division of region. When IBM acquired PwC Consulting, Alec took on the role of heading up the SAP practice across the merged firms for the region (Africa, Middle East and Turkey). During his time at PwC and IBM the major SAP implementations delivered by his team included Unilever, Roche, Nestle, Sappi, Anglo American and Sasol. In 2005 Alec joined Anglo American as the Southern African CIO and spearheaded the creation of the Anglo American SAP template.

Alec joined Sasol as its global CIO and in April 2012 and under his leadership IM has become much more than just a technology provider to the business but rather a partner to drive business value and collaboration on a global scale. Sasol also delivered a large scale transformational SAP project on time and within budget and won a SAP Quality award for the implementation in 2016.

Alec was the Chairman of the Global SAP Industry Advisory Council for Mining between 2008 and 2010 and sits on the board of a non-profit HIV prevention organisation, CHAPS. 

Özlem Altınışık

Özlem Altınışık is an IT  Director at Üstünberk Holding, a leading group of companies supplying high quality components for car interiors to the automotive industry for over 20 years.

Özlem has 22 years of experience in the automotive sector in different process and managerial levels mainly in management systems and IT areas. She was assigned as SAP project manager in charge of the transformation for 20+ production plants in 2013. The Üstünberk SAP project won the SAP Quality Awards in 2014: Gold winner in Turkey market unit and bronze winner in EMEA in the Business Transformation category. 

She has participated in the 2015 SAP Quality Awards Business Transformation Judging Panel.

Currently She leads multi functional  IT Operations and SAP (ERP, HR, Digital Transformation, HANA) across all global landscapes in Üstünberk Holding. She has new areas of interest such as the SAP Leonardo product family which  were used for new projects. 

Volker Rommel

Volker Rommel joined Interroll Management SA headquartered in S. Antonino, Switzerland as Head of SAP Competence Center in 2008 before being promoted to his current role as Head of Corporate Business Applications. He is globally responsible for business process and IT platforms.  As Program and Application Life Cycle Manager of Interroll's major projects and IT platforms he is responsible for the innovation, implementation, operation and continuous optimization of Interroll’s global Business Applications and Platforms.

Volker has more than 25 years consulting and business experience in various industry sectors including logistics, automotive, systems & machinery as well as high tech industry. He previously worked for MHP, A Porsche Service Company, Computer Science Corporation (CSC) and Daimler Benz. During his time as business consultant he was Solution Architect providing Transformation, Project, Integration and Change Management to numerous notable customers in various industries.

In May 2008 he Volker received his Business Administration Degree (Diplom-Kaufmann) from Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen, Germany.

Oliver Schlueter

Oliver Schlueter

Oliver joined the Bleistahl Group in 2011 as Global Head of IT and Business Process Management. The Bleistahl Group based in Wetter an der Ruhr in Germany develops, produces and supplies valve seat inserts and valve guides for the automotive industry worldwide.

Before joining the Bleistahl Group, Oliver was a senior project manager of the SAP Competence Center at PPG Industries in the Netherlands and manager of IT-infrastructure and system support at SigmaKalon Group, Division Industrial Coatings in Germany and the Netherlands.

Oliver was the IT lead for an SAP Implementation that won the Gold SAP Quality Award in Germany and a regional SAP Quality Award in 2016 in the Fast Delivery Category.
