Chief Technology Officer
Juergen Mueller is a member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, leading the Technology and Innovation board area. As Chief Technology Officer (CTO), he is in charge of SAP’s overall platform and technology development, in short SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). SAP BTP is the platform for the Intelligent Enterprise. SAP BTP includes database and data management, application development and integration, analytics as well as intelligent technologies – from on-premise to the cloud. Moreover, Juergen leads SAP’s overall innovation agenda and builds new business model- and market-driven innovations supporting our customers’ goals and long-term growth strategies.
Since joining SAP in 2013, Juergen has served in distinct leadership roles. Starting as the Head of the Innovation Center Potsdam, he soon assumed responsibility for the entire global SAP Innovation Center Network that is in charge of pioneering disruptive technologies. From June 2016 on, he served as Managing Director of SAP Labs Berlin, where he was responsible for driving SAP’s innovation footprint in the greater Berlin area. In the same year, Juergen was appointed as SAP’s Chief Innovation Officer. In 2018, Juergen took on additional responsibilities and became Head of the Leonardo and Analytics Engineering unit.
Juergen has a diploma in business informatics from the University of Goettingen, Germany, and spent significant time in China during his studies. Besides, he holds a PhD with emphasis on new applications optimized for in-memory databases from the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam, Germany.
Juergen was included on Fortune’s 40 Under 40 list in 2020. Since March 2019, Juergen serves as a member of the senate of acatech, Germany’s National Academy of Science and Engineering. Among his other activities is a membership in the supervisory board of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
