SAP HANA Cloud is the database management foundation of SAP Business Technology Platform. This platform encompasses database and data management, analytics, application development and integration, as well as intelligent technologies.

 

The SAP HANA Cloud adapters are different from the Open Connectors in SAP Business Technology Platform. However, SAP HANA Cloud provides an SAP HANA smart data integration (SDI) adapter that integrates with the Open Connectors framework in SAP Business Technology Platform.

SAP HANA Cloud database offers the same power and performance that you might already be familiar with in SAP HANA. However, SAP HANA Cloud database is built natively for the cloud, which means greater connectivity and several new features. It’s also a database as a service, offering greater flexibility. With SAP HANA Cloud database, you don’t have to worry about managing hardware, operating systems, backups, and other types of maintenance. All of this is taken care of by SAP.

SAP HANA Cloud is a single database that can serve OLTP, OLAP, and xOLTP use cases. This single database is great for adding flexibility for multi-model features, developing applications, and more.

SAP HANA Cloud can access SAP and non-SAP, including both federation and replication methods. We use Smart Data Access (SDA) and Smart Data Integration (SDI).  Access includes ODBC, REST, Data Provisioning Agent (DPAgent) and JDBC.

In the SAP HANA Cloud trial, you can test the SAP HANA database and the data lake services. The configuration of your SAP HANA Cloud database trial instance is 30GB of memory, 2vCPUs, and 120GB of storage. You can only have one database and one data lake instance (4vCPUs, 256GB of storage) in your SAP HANA Cloud trial account.

For data virtualization, SAP HANA Cloud supports many adapters from SAP HANA smart data access/SAP HANA smart data integration on-premises. Additionally, SAP HANA Cloud supports data virtualization from AWS Athena (S3) and Google BigQuery. For the Adaptive Server Enterprise service, you can use CIS Proxy Tables.

There are lower prices and lower total cost of ownership compared to other offerings. That’s because SAP HANA Cloud introduces a cloud-native database architecture that directly benefits from the cost-efficiency of hyperscaler’s infrastructure. Request a quote.

Each service within SAP HANA Cloud has its own minimal configuration. For the SAP HANA database, it’s 30GB memory and 120GB storage (with or without data). For the data lake, you have a minimum of 4 vCPUs and 1 TB storage on AWS or 4TB on Azure.

 

For SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise, you have a minimum of 4 vCPUs, 16 GB memory, and 128 GiB storage. Finally, for the ASE Replication service, you have a minimum of 2 vCPUs, 8 GB memory, 16 GB data storage, and 4 GB system storage.

You gain secure access to on-premises data sources with SAP HANA smart data integration DP Agent. You can connect SAP HANA Cloud, SAP HANA database to on-premise databases using the Cloud Connector from the SAP Connectivity service

SAP HANA Cloud can connect to S3 and ingest data. We federate with AWS Athena to access S3. SAP HANA Cloud can also ingest data directly from S3 via the built-in data lake.
