When IT consulting provider delaware Brasil wished to expand its business, it knew it needed to integrate disparate systems used by the company’s various operations around the world. Implementing the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition solution has helped the company grow its global operations, increasing project transparency and improving business analytics.

Using SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition has helped us achieve a global view of our operations. I can log in and check our operations in Germany, Singapore, the United States, and so on and see where they are with their monthly results and their project status. Everything is available through this single platform of reporting.

Achieving system integration for smoother operations

For the past 20 years, DBR Consultoria e Tecnologia Ltda. (delaware Brasil) has been providing information and communication technology solutions and services to support its customers in realizing their business goals. But achieving transparency and system integration for its operations around the world had sometimes proved challenging for the company. Different systems had been used by operations in various parts of the world, with each country taking its own individual approach to running its projects.

Because of this lack of system integration, delaware Brasil had also been unable to take full advantage of the capabilities of the SAP Analytics Cloud solution – used by the company for planning, business intelligence, and budgeting processes.

To create better system integration throughout its global operations, the company decided to completely replace its disparate systems with SAP solutions and migrate to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. In partnership with SAP, the company is committed to creating an omnichannel customer experience that helps its customers create a positive impact in a challenging business environment.

In my role as CEO, I need to understand what is happening in all of our projects and in all of the areas where we operate. I can see this using SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, which allows me to gain a big-picture perspective while also going deep into the detail of each project.

Increasing transparency and managing costs in the cloud

Through a co-innovation project with SAP in 2017, delaware Brasil became an early adopter of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. This allowed the company to engage in a learning experience with what was then a completely new model. The small size of the operation in Brazil at the time allowed the implementation to progress smoothly, with very little complexity.

The move to the cloud offered delaware Brasil a way to gain transparency across its operations while driving everyday decisions relating to planning, global budgeting, reporting, social issues, and sustainability. Data relating to these and other aspects of the business is created, generated, and processed using SAP Analytics Cloud. The company then executes the data through SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, which controls the comprehensive chain of processes relating to the provisioning of services and licenses to its customers throughout the world.

Moving to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition has helped manage the costs of delaware Brasil’s many projects, particularly the cost of consultants. The direct costs are submitted through a customized time-sheet application – built by the company on SAP Business Technology Platform – that enables consultants to book their hours on each project. The costs are managed by SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, and then everything is consolidated to produce the end result, with the costs also going to the company’s accounts payable department.

The main goal that we’ve achieved is that we can manage everything about our project inside SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, as well as being able to standardize the management of projects. Before the implementation, each country took care of its projects in its own way. Now, all 19 countries manage their projects in the same way.

Boosting business with integrated systems that attract new customers

Since migrating to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, delaware Brasil has been enjoying the benefits of system integration: improved transparency, real-time results, better decision-making, easier onboarding of customers, and enhanced customer experiences.

Its cloud migration has also helped the company better realize the benefits of its other SAP solutions. Rodolfo Rezende, COO at delaware Brasil, explains that 100% of the company’s budgeting currently takes place in SAP Analytics Cloud, which he says is now “working perfectly.” Rezende says the company often uses its SAP Analytics Cloud solution to demonstrate new features and offerings. He notes that the efficient working of the solution has helped the company attract new customers who wish to implement it in their own business.

Furthermore, delaware Brasil CFO Fabio Carneiro observes that migration to the cloud has allowed the company to achieve a transparent way of showcasing its global operations. He says that teams in Brazil have visibility regarding their specific parts of an operation, allowing them to check project status and financial results for the area in real time.

Another key benefit of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is its ability to integrate with other SAP solutions, including SAP SuccessFactors solutions used by the company in its human resources department.

The many advantages of migrating to the cloud have boosted revenue for the company, which closed 2022 with €490 million in global revenue and has expanded its operations – from around 13 countries in 2017 to 19 countries today. And migration to the cloud means that delaware Brasil can receive new features on an ongoing basis as fresh updates are released.

I really believe that our decision to move to the cloud has helped us improve operations, increase business, and make our process better every day. And the road map of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition supports us on this.

Growing business rapidly with the support of cloud ERP

The growth of delaware Brasil since the implementation of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition is evident, and the company has ambitious plans to continue this growth into the future. COO Roberto Matias explains, “One of our strategic plans is, of course, to grow, and we want to grow fast. And this is the reason we really need a platform or ERP that supports us in sustainable and fast growth. So, I think one of the important aspects in our future growth is that we now find it easier to grow and organize and kick off new business units. This is helped by the fact that our closing period has moved from 20 days to close the financial month previously to just 9 days now.”

Another aspect of the company’s future plans involves the improvement of localization services internally. CFO Carneiro notes that although the company is aware that localization features are available with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition and sells that feature to its customers, it needs to complete the implementation of that offering itself. This will help it to provide a comprehensive, localized solution for future customers that choose SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition for their own business.
