Digitalizing HR to create a more inclusive and agile work experience

As one of the world’s largest food companies, BRF S.A. has been producing quality food to feed the world for nearly 90 years. BRF understands that sustainable growth involves building a more inclusive work environment – especially for those 60,000 employees working at the production units without access to desktops or corporate e-mail accounts.

 

BRF’s existing talent management systems, while functional, had room for enhancement. The diverse and widespread data offered an opportunity to improve data-driven leadership decision-making and to better connect its more than 90,000 employees. HR aimed to further equalize access to career opportunities and address employee needs more effectively.

 

BRF decided to digitally transform its HR processes to enhance the employee experience and strengthen its high-performance culture, focusing on improving talent identification, development, and retention.

Unifying and simplifying talent management data, processes, and experiences

BRF chose SAP SuccessFactors HCM to digitally transform its global talent management operations.

 

As part of the suite, the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central solution and the SAP Payroll Processing application have allowed BRF to standardize and integrate HR operations worldwide. The single unified platform covers many aspects of position management, turnovers, promotions, hiring, succession processes, performance evaluation, goal management, learning, and development.

 

Multilingual capabilities as well as self-service mobile connectivity enable access and a more standardized experience for BRF’s employees in different countries – even those working in warehouses and elsewhere with only a smartphone. SAP SuccessFactors solutions also offer the scalability, flexibility, standardization, and automation required to operate a growing global business in a unified way while maintaining clear HR data visibility from a single employee database.

Creating an inclusive, accessible experience for workers

With SAP SuccessFactors solutions in place, BRF now not only has a single cloud HR application for 100% of its workforce but can also provide them a more inclusive experience in five languages, which is a differential, especially for their more than 5,000 migrant workers. Employee training has also been digitalized, with nearly 2,000 online courses now available using the SAP SuccessFactors Learning solution, making them easier and more convenient to access. The result is a better employee experience, from recruiting and compensation to learning and career development.

 

The SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll solution is live across five plants in the Middle East, giving roughly 1,800 workers smartphone access to self-service tools as well as compensation and other data.

 

And a new digital platform makes onboarding easier – saving BRF nearly 20,000 hours each year. Six onboarding documents have been digitalized into one, saving roughly 800,000 sheets of paper. And sensitive information, such as contracts, medical records, and more, are safer and more secure. Today, BRF hiring in Brazil is done online, which simplifies and streamlines the process, and promotes greater transparency for new employees – more than 50,000 of whom have already used the new system. The result is an astonishing 75% reduction in time to onboard.
