Navigating mining complexity while preparing for a cloud-first future
Tin is essential to everyday technologies from electronics to renewable energy systems. But producing it is anything but simple. For Minsur SA, one of the world’s largest tin producers, even small disruptions can impact safety, production continuity, and trust across the value chain.
While the company was operating from a position of financial and operational strength, warning signals were emerging. The approaching end of support for SAP ERP Central Component (SAP ECC) in 2027 coincided with rising demands for real-time visibility, standardized controls, and scalable analytics. At the same time, the company was managing more than 20 years of historical ERP data, mission-critical integrations, and operations that must run continuously.
Functionally, the challenges were familiar across the mining sector. Finance teams faced long costing cycles that slowed decisions. HR managed complex payroll scenarios involving shift work, labor agreements, and strict compliance calendars. Operations needed standardized processes without risking downtime. IT had to modernize the landscape while maintaining governance, security, and availability.
For Minsur, the question was how to modernize safely, at enterprise scale, and with minimal risk in one of the world’s most asset-intensive industries.

Minsur chose SAP solutions as the foundation for its next phase of digital transformation, building on a long-standing relationship and SAP’s deep industry expertise in mining.
Working with its partners SEIDOR and SNP Group, Minsur migrated from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition in just 10 months, protecting operational continuity while modernizing critical financial, logistics, and operational processes. The company standardized cross-functional processes, reimplemented payroll, and modernized integrations across its enterprise landscape.
SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) played a key role in extending capabilities without overloading the ERP core. Minsur developed applications for supplier and commercial management, logistics, banking, and operational integrations, maintaining a clean core while improving agility.
SAP SuccessFactors solutions continued to play a central role in HR, supporting the employee lifecycle across recruiting, onboarding, core HR data, payroll integration, performance, and learning. Minsur’s integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition supported consistent data, accurate payroll processing, and traceability in a complex and geographically distributed mining organization.
The result was a more secure, scalable, and governed platform designed not only to run today’s mining operations but also to support advanced analytics, automation, and responsible AI adoption.

With SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition in place, Minsur now operates with greater control, visibility, and confidence across its mining business. The finance team reduced its costing cycle from more than 16 hours to less than four hours, enabling faster operational decisions and improved responsiveness in a volatile commodities environment.
System availability reached 99.97%, reinforcing trust in a platform that supports production, HR, and back-office processes without disruption. More than 30 applications built on SAP BTP help streamline daily work while preserving a clean ERP core.
Standardized data and stronger governance also support Minsur’s sustainability commitments. With the SAP Sustainability Control Tower solution, the company consolidates and monitors water-related indicators with reliable, traceable data, enabling better environmental visibility and informed decision-making. With a clean, stable foundation on SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition, Minsur’s immediate focus is to strengthen data governance to enable quality, traceability, and consistency. After there is a solid foundation in place, the company will start to explore early AI use cases across HR, finance, and procurement, supporting workforce planning, cost analysis, supplier management, and decision support.
