The Challenge
Meeting the challenges of digitalizing operations
Producing a variety of prescription and over-the-counter drugs to treat everything from malaria, diabetes, osteoporosis, and neuropathic pain, Genix Pharma is one of Pakistan’s leading pharmaceutical firms. With the company expanding across multiple pharmaceutical segments, it wanted to accelerate growth, better serve an increasing number of customers, and support expansion to new geographies. However, to achieve a four-fold growth target by 2030, it needed to replace manual, paper-based workflows with digitalized operations.
To help it achieve this, it looked for an intelligent, integrated, and future-ready business foundation to optimize processes and increase efficiencies while enabling comprehensive visibility throughout the organization. It also required a solution that would enable it to comply with the requirements of the current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) guidelines issued by the World Health Organization.

The Solution
Bringing a digital vision to life in just six months
To support its digital transformation, Genix Pharma was the first company in Pakistan to take an accelerated and guided path to cloud ERP through the RISE with SAP solution. Delivering industry-specific functionality and embedded best practices for global processes, the solution also included services to help the manufacturer get up and running quickly. With help from SAP partner SuperNova Solutions, Genix Pharma deployed SAP S/4HANA Cloud within six months without additional headcount, upskilling its team to achieve a cost-effective and efficient project delivery.
Native integration capabilities provide the opportunity for Genix Pharma to scale and innovate its IT landscape to meet changing business needs. In addition, the SAP Fiori user experience enables increased simplicity and use on mobile devices. This means Genix Pharma employees can work from anywhere – a significant advantage in the ever-changing hybrid work environment.
The Result
Improving decision-making and optimizing company-wide processes
Now that it has digitalized its business with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Genix Pharma is seeing productivity gains across the company. Within the finance function, automated two- and three-way matching and check-printing processes are speeding up workflows. In addition, planning, budgeting, and forecasting capabilities have improved thanks to increased real-time insights into processes and systems, including plant availability and throughput. Furthermore, real-time cost-breakup visibility helps simplify audits and profitability analysis tasks.
An integrated procure-to-pay process has enabled Genix Pharma to improve vendor management, request planning, and execution. Now, everyone in the procurement team can see their budgets, procurement limits, and processes in real time, smoothing procurement operations.
Within production, comprehensive and flexible reporting, standardized system-driven procedures, safety-stock and inventory planning, and fewer manual interventions are helping the company adhere to cGMP guidelines. In addition, digitalization of supplies and delivery documentation has improved inventory control by enhancing visibility in the warehouse, while system-driven production planning and forecasting has increased capacity utilization. Meanwhile, the change from reactive to 100% predictive maintenance operations using SAP S/4HANA Cloud means that Genix Pharma now has comprehensive insight into maintenance schedules and costs thanks to the availability of machine-level data.
Future Plans

Following the successful go-live of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Genix Pharma is taking advantage of the technology’s advanced capabilities and is continuing its digitalization journey with SAP.
