T&G Global, formerly Turners and Growers, operates in 13 countries with a team of 1,800 people and alongside over 700 independent growers. They grow, market, sell, and distribute a range
of fresh produce to consumers in more than 55 countries. As a leading agribusiness, T&G leverages efficient digital platforms to support their growers, sales teams, and supply chain partners
across a global network. T&G had implemented SAP S/4HANA, but faced significant disruption following natural disasters that impacted both operations and budgets.
Why This Project is a Best Tech Contender:
The Claims App redefines how quality issues are managed in the fresh produce industry. By replacing an inefficient, email-heavy process with a centralised, SAP BTP-powered workflow, T&G
Global has delivered a new standard in speed, accountability, and transparency.
• Replaced a fragmented, manual process with an intelligent, automated claims workflow
• Integrated data, documents, approvals, and notifications into a secure, cloud-native platform
• Enabled real-time cost allocation, grower accountability, and improved financial control
• Created a scalable foundation for supply chain collaboration and analytics-driven decision making
This solution shows what’s possible when bold innovation meets operational pain points - disrupting the status quo to unlock measurable value across the value chain.

T&G Global Claims App
Industry Disruptor
Challenges
T&G’s global Apple business were experiencing inefficiencies within their existing system for managing customer claims relate d to issues with the quality
of the produce.
The laborious process of recording, investigating and confirming claims impacts customer satisfaction and overall business performance in sales,
operations, quality management and finance processes.
Prior to the Claims App, customers submitted a claim via email, including photographs. A T&G Customer service agent would man ually enter the
information into a spreadsheet and pass the information onto the quality team via email. Depending on the nature of the claim, the quality team
investigates the issue, creates a grower’s report to send to the grower via email. A credit is sent to the customer via email.
To address this challenge and drive grower’s accountability, T&G is focusing on streamlining the existing claims process, leveraging technology to improve
efficiency and accuracy by automating and simplifying the claims management process.

Solution
FIORI element screens connect via the CAP API to allow the creation and management of claims. A person making a claim contact s T&G supplying pertinent
information such as the container number on damaged produce, along with photos. A T&G employee enters this information into the SAP BTP CAP
Application.
All touchpoints in this process are unified through SAP BTP. This architectural decision not only improves efficiency but als o sets a new benchmark for claims
handling in the produce industry. Data is stored in a central BTP HANA Database, while OData services connect to backend syst ems to retrieve additional claim-
relevant data. The BTP Document Management Repository and API service are used to store attachments securely, while SAP BTP Process Automation
manages the full workflow of the claim between relevant internal teams.
Once submitted, the claim is routed to the appropriate approver’s inbox. Upon approval, the system automatically generates th e information formerly known
as the grower’s report, issues a credit note to the customer, and simultaneously initiates a grower payment deduction in one integrated process.
Historical claims are managed through the same system, providing a foundation for intelligent reporting via SAP Analytics Cloud and ensuring future
extensibility. The application is secured by SAP IAS, allowing for safe expansion to external users like growers and logistic s partners.
By replacing fragmented manual processes with a unified and intelligent digital solution, T&G has redefined operational accountability, transparency and speed
across the claims lifecycle. This demonstrates how industry-specific challenges can be solved with scalable SAP innovation.

Impact
During Harvest season, 10% reduction of
manual work
Functionality of the Application can be
reused across other business sectors with
minimal adjustments, increasing the
cost/benefit and maximising business
impact.
70% reduction in user error from the
previous Excel-based solution.
The integration of FIORI elements with CAP API and SAP BTP has automated and streamlined the claim creation and management process, significantly reducing
manual entry errors and accelerating the overall workflow.
Unified data storage in the BTP HANA Database, combined with seamless OData connections to backend systems, ensures that all rel evant information is
consistently and accurately captured. This minimises discrepancies and enhances the reliability of operational data.
The increase in data accuracy enables real-time, meaningful reporting, which is used proactively to identify recurring quality issues or patterns, enabling faster
root cause analysis and more informed decision-making.
BTP Process Automation orchestrates the workflow across all relevant parties, ensuring that claims are processed within agreed timeframes, enabling accurate
and timely cost allocation. This improves financial accountability and supports better planning and forecasting.
An integrated audit log provides full traceability across the claims lifecycle, allowing the team to identify bottlenecks, address delays, and proactively educate
users, driving continuous improvement in process efficiency.
The app’s user-friendly interface has made onboarding new users significantly easier, enabling the extension of the app to third-party users, such as selected
customers and logistics partners, broadening its impact and improving collaboration across the supply chain.
Quicker and more accurate claims resolution has directly contributed to improved customer satisfaction and loyalty, while also enhancing grower accountability
and transparency.
