ChallengesAs part of the review, Hyundai’s P&C team uncovered HR challenges that were affecting the organization at every level. As a result of Hyundai's four-yearly executive changes, the company's leadership style and focus continuously changed. Asnew leaders came in, the lack of a systemized HR culture was undermining employee unity.Mid-level managers, while highly skilled in their specialized roles, were often promoted without a clear framework to guidetheir development as leaders. This added to the lack of direction.A historic focus on sales teams and targets meant that a proportion of the general workforce felt overlooked or disengaged, leading to high turnover and poor retention.Operational processes were out of date and modernizing them was a major priority. There was an over-reliance onspreadsheets, and disjointed systems kept information in silos, all of which led to frustrating data inaccuracies and a lack oftransparency. Overall, existing HR software solutions lacked scalability. It was clear that building a robust culture and modernizing processes were intertwined, and both were crucial in setting thestage for a more efficient, forward-looking team.
