He highlighted the costly inefficiencies of fragmented application landscapes, where 80% of effort is spent managing disconnected systems instead of generating value, and explained why AI requires an end-to-end business context. A live demo showcased how SAP’s AI co-pilot, Joule, powers real-time insights, demand-supply analyses, and recommendations to drive faster, higher-quality decision-making and cross-functional collaboration. De Barse concluded that while the application layer may become commoditised, the true differentiator in the AI era will be the ability to integrate applications, data, and AI to solve complex problems holistically and deliver sustainable business outcomes.
