SAP NOW AI Tour: Keynote: AWS Keynote: Innovating for Tomorrow. AWS and SAP's Transformative Partnership

Rianne van Veldhuizen and Rob Findlay from AWS explored the enduring 16-year partnership between SAP and AWS, which began in 2008 with SAP’s adoption of AWS EC2. Today, AWS powers much of SAP’s cloud portfolio—including SAP HANA, Joule, SAP Business Data Cloud, and RISE with SAP—with security as a core foundation. AWS, recognised as the world’s most secure cloud provider, continues to reimagine protection from the chip up. The keynote also spotlighted major ANZ investments, including $20 billion AUD in Australia and the launch of the first AWS Region in Auckland by 2025, projected to inject over $45 billion into the region’s economies.The session highlighted how SAP is leveraging AWS innovation in AI, from embedding Amazon Bedrock into the SAP Generative AI Hub to adopting Trainium and Inferentia chips for faster, more efficient AI/ML workloads. Attendees also learned about the SAP AWS AI Co-Innovation Program, designed to help customers deploy AI solutions rapidly with structured support and funding. Beyond technology, the speakers shared Amazon’s culture of innovation—rooted in customer obsession, the “working backwards” methodology, and the Day One mentality—brought to life through examples like Hyundai’s reimagined car-buying experience. Together, SAP and AWS are driving agility, innovation, and real-world outcomes for businesses across ANZ and beyond.
