SAP NOW AI Tour: AI+Data+Platform: Building Smarter AI Agents with Joule Studio

Liam Mischewski, Innovation Architect at SAP ANZ, explored how Joule Studio is transforming the way AI agents are built and deployed. Moving beyond traditional rule-based systems, Joule Studio enables the creation of intelligent, goal-oriented agents equipped with “tools” such as external systems, unstructured data, APIs, and calculators to achieve specific business outcomes. A key takeaway from the session was that Joule Studio is part of SAP’s Build portfolio, offering a governed extensibility framework for low-code, pro-code, and automation development. It provides full lifecycle management and monitoring capabilities, giving businesses visibility and control over their AI agents. Powered by the BTP AI Foundation, it supports advanced features like data masking for sensitive information. Liam also highlighted the concept of “Joule skills”, which use conversational AI to augment processes, enabling natural interaction across SAP and non-SAP systems.
