The panel on Realising Ambitions and Unlocking Value with an Integrated Supply Chain Management Platform brought together David Booker (Ego Pharmaceuticals), Dean Engelbrecht (UGL), and Marcus Williams (Sigma Healthcare), moderated by Ziahd Freijah (Head of Supply Chain Management, SAP ANZ).The discussion explored how organisations are modernising their supply chain and asset management processes with SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and Field Service Management (FSM). They emphasised the effectiveness of a minimal viable product (MVP) approach, where rapid deployment and incremental enhancements deliver faster business value while supporting user adoption. On the operations side, UGL demonstrated how FSM automation has streamlined work order management, boosted compliance, and enhanced client transparency through real-time dashboards. The role of AI and machine learning was a central theme, with IBP’s predictive models improving forecast accuracy for promotions and seasonal events while reducing manual input. Panelists also discussed future opportunities to leverage generative AI tools like Joule to detect out-of-tolerance forecasts, support proactive problem-solving, and enhance issue detection.Innovation in asset management was also showcased, with AI-powered vehicle-mounted cameras being trialed for defect detection, helping prevent outages and strengthen reliability. The session concluded with practical advice: adopt statistical and ML-based forecasting incrementally, draw on expert guidance for optimal configuration, and embrace innovation to unlock long-term value in the supply chain.
