In this session, Liam Mischewski, Innovation Architect at SAP ANZ, offered a deep dive into Joule Studio, showcasing how organisations can extend Joule by creating custom skills that wrap conversational AI around SAP and non-SAP processes. Joule Studio, part of SAP’s Build portfolio, provides a governed extensibility platform for low-code, pro-code, and automation use cases. Practical examples included building a skill to fetch tax statements from a non-SAP system, with Joule prompting for the tax year and returning the document URL, while automatically populating details like employee IDs.Key takeaways included the versatility of Joule Studio for building, testing, and deploying skills; its full testing framework for validation; and its lifecycle management capabilities using Cloud Application Lifecycle Management for version control and multi-environment deployment. The platform not only supports SAP’s process automation library but also integrates seamlessly with external systems, ensuring flexibility and speed in extending Joule. Importantly, Joule Studio—only recently launched—will evolve into the foundation for developing AI agents, marking the next step in agentic AI.
