In this session, Jon Gooding (Solution Architect, SAP ANZ) introduced SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC).At the core of BDC are Data Products—pre-built, semantically rich datasets that unify data from various SAP applications into a common semantic layer. These datasets not only deliver instant value but also enable seamless integration with partners like Databricks, powering AI-driven insights and advanced analytics across lines of business such as finance, supply chain, and procurement. Key takeaways included BDC’s role in accelerating business value by eliminating silos and reducing complexity, with about 140 data products already available and new ones released every two weeks. With flexible licensing and resource allocation across its components, BDC empowers organisations on both ECC and S/4HANA (on-premise or Rise) to tailor data consumption to their needs. Looking ahead, BDC is set to integrate more closely with Data Sphere, Joule, and knowledge graphs to enable even smarter AI-driven insights and operational intelligence.
