Building digital skills

SAP’s education initiatives help people reach the relevant 21st-century skills to thrive and secure decent meaningful work – including entrepreneurial pursuits – in a digital world. In 2020, our digital skills and coding programmes trained 117,000 teachers, engaged 2.3 million young people, and spanned 113 countries.

Meet and Code

SAP’s signature coding initiative in Europe, Meet and Code, returned virtually with 10 new participating countries. Meet and Code proudly supported 679 nonprofit organisations, enabling them to serve 39,604 young learners across urban and remote locations.

Code Unnati

Code Unnati is a corporate-to-citizen, digital literacy and IT skills development initiative aimed at fostering digital inclusion in India. Launched in June 2017, Code Unnati integrates digital literacy within primary to higher secondary curriculum and imparts skills in next-gen technologies among youth, enabling employment opportunities.

Digital Skills for Today

In the Middle East and North Africa region, Digital Skills for Today strives for peace through education and workforce readiness training. In 2020, 32,426 young people, out of whom 67% are women, were reached across 14 countries. The program recorded 93% employment outcomes, and measurable progress across 200 life skills.

Latin Code Week

Latin Code week is SAP’s signature program in Latin America. To date, the program has helped more than 6,000 students aged 16-20 increase their digital skills acumen and develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Now, they are better prepared to enter the future workforce.  

Accelerating best-run nonprofits and social enterprises

SAP CSR carefully selects nonprofit and social enterprise partners primarily in the areas of quality education, workforce preparedness, and youth entrepreneurship. We provide skills, technology expertise, and access to markets to accelerate these partners’ ability to drive sustainable social impact and systemic change. In 2020, SAP built capacity for 1,567 innovative nonprofit organisations and social enterprises spanning 80 countries and impacting more than 1 billion lives across the globe.

Reimagining Health Systems

In 2020, SAP joined forces with PYXERA Global and others to reimagine health systems during a pandemic. The challenge ended in September 2020, with the U.S. Community Health centres better poised to play a stronger role in expanding telehealth services for 30 million low-income patients across the United States.

Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF)

In 2020, the Social Enterprise World Forum convened digitally for the first time, championing the potential of social enterprises – small and large, rural and urban – to bring about sustainable development. Join us for SEWF 2021 in September, as social enterprises across the world come together to maximise their impact.

COVID-19 Response Alliance for Social Entrepreneurs

SAP has joined hands with more than 50 global organisations to provide support, knowledge, and expertise to social entrepreneurs adversely affected by COVID-19. Currently, 84 alliance members support 90,000 social entrepreneurs, collectively impacting 1.9 billion lives. 

Connecting employees with purpose

94% of SAP employees acknowledge the importance of pursuing purpose and sustainability. SAP CSR empowers them to take action on causes they care about. In 2020, 20,000+ SAP employees engaged in volunteerism and learning experiences promoting SAP’s holistic sustainability strategy in action. Collectively, they dedicated 136,000 hours of service across the globe.

SAP is committed to education, economic opportunity, and social justice reform. SAP employees are leading the effort to end injustice for Black communities in the United States and all around the world.

SAP’s response to COVID-19

Large or small, each contribution matters in the fight against COVID-19. Answering to this need, SAP supported health organisations, and small nonprofits and social enterprises working on the frontlines to continue serving their communities.

UNICEF and SAP Partnership

We believe in a world where education, training, and age-appropriate employment should be accessible to all young people – and we are partnering with UNICEF in support of Generation Unlimited to make it happen. While our journey begins in India, Turkey, and Viet Nam, we hope to scale sustainable change in digital education throughout the world. Together, we can build a future-ready generation.

SAP Social Sabbatical is a pro bono volunteering program designed to use and develop SAP talent. SAP employees offer their skills to help nonprofit organisations and social enterprises that focus on digital inclusion, run at their best.
