Gender equality is an important part of SAP’s mission to help the world run better and improve people’s lives. Operating in an industry often cited for its lack of diversity, SAP has been working to counter this trend and be a tech company that is willing to lead by example.


Women in Technology@SAP

"Women in Technology@SAP" is a board-area program that aims to create a cross-functional, cross-level platform to explore and promote the role of women in technology at SAP.  It encourages and support networks between like-minded colleagues and supports SAP's commitment to the 17 UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development with a focus on goal 5: gender equality.

We champion women

Since SAP made greater gender balance a priority and the executive board set a goal for women in leadership, we have put a number of efforts and initiatives in place to help us move the needle.

For SAP, gender equality is a core company value and a strategic priority. In 2016, SAP was the first IT company to certify with Economic Dividends for Gender Equality (EDGE), an independent third-party certification organization that analyzes policies, practices, and data to help ensure a sustainable approach to diversity and inclusion.

In June 2017, SAP met the board-level goal of having 25% of management positions filled by women globally, with a continued commitment to increasing this number each year by 1%, to reach 30% by 2022.

In 2018, SAP recertified with the organization, recognizing our strategic commitment to creating a gender-equal workplace that benefits employees, customers, and partners. Going through the EDGE certification has helped us to identify gaps and set the course for where we want to go in the future.

Business Women's Network

The largest employee-driven network at SAP with more than 13,000 members and more than 60 chapters around the world, Business Women's Network offers women at SAP the opportunity to share professional insight and best practices, and help one another develop skills and advance their careers.

"Women's Professional Growth" Webinar series

Run on a monthly basis by the Global Diversity and Inclusion Office, this career-development series is aimed at empowering women across SAP. Leaders from all levels across the SAP organization as well as powerful external speakers discuss topics such as health, mentoring, and personal branding. 

SAP Women Forward

SAP Women Forward is designed to help women realize and celebrate their full potential across businesses, cultures, and communities around the world. Our LinkedIn community brings together professionals from all industries who support women’s issues to help drive awareness, share knowledge, and success stories.
