Executing a successful digital transformation with engaged employees
FRoSTA AG wants to become a digital champion in the frozen-food sector by 2025. As the company began a digital transformation to support this goal, it realized that its employees are one of the biggest drivers of success for such an undertaking.
However, the company’s previous HR system did not support employees in a way that maximized their contributions to the business transformation.
As an example, HR was managed on a country-by-country basis with predominantly manual processes. This resulted in a distinct lack of speed and transparency. User acceptance of the existing HR tools was generally low, as they didn’t offer the functionality and ease of use that most employees have come to expect – particularly younger generations.
To overcome these challenges, the company wanted to implement a new, modern HR system that would help it gain the agility and transparency it needed to engage employees in in the transformation. The new system would also help support employees as FRoSTA transitions into a leaner, greener, and more intelligent enterprise.

Engaging employees in change and transformation in a new era of HR
To support its digital transformation, FRoSTA chose to replace its existing on-premise SAP ERP application with the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central solution, which would serve as a central repository for employee data. It engaged SAP partner Pentos AG for the implementation that included an integration with SAP S/4HANA through SAP Business Technology Platform and FRoSTA’s Microsoft Azure environment.
Thanks to comprehensive expert support and the LaunchNOW! offering from Pentos, which features tried-and-tested best practices and integrated processes, FRoSTA was able to complete the implementation in record time.
FRoSTA’s new company-wide HR system incorporates the SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting, SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals, and SAP SuccessFactors Learning solutions.

FRoSTA has transformed HR from a manual administrative function into a cornerstone of its digital transformation.
Data quality was an issue in the past, but with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, managers have the latest data at their fingertips and can generate reports at the touch of a button. This has increased the speed, agility, and efficiency of HR significantly.
Employees now have real-time access to HR services through the SAP SuccessFactors Mobile app. “The mobile app has proven to be very popular. Everybody loves the convenience of having HR in their pocket,” says Windhorst.
By digitalizing processes, FRoSTA has also successfully increased transparency. For example, with SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting, managers can now follow the recruitment process and work hand-in-hand with HR. This has reduced the time taken to recruit new people by 30%.
With SAP SuccessFactors Learning, FRoSTA can now offer engaging digital training material in a matter of hours, not weeks. Employees can access the training material through mobile devices and thus extend their skills and knowledge regardless of time and place. For instance, employees can complete training on how to operate production machinery right on the job.
