Human capital management is the set of practices and software used for recruiting, managing, and developing an organisation’s human capital—aka its workforce.

A human resource management system (HRMS) is used to digitalise, automate, and centralise core HR processes, such as employee data storage, benefits administration, time and attendance, and payroll. An HRMS also provides talent management capabilities such as recruiting, onboarding, performance management, goal planning, learning and training, compensation, and succession planning. Human resource management systems and human capital management software are often used interchangeably.

A vendor management system is a cloud-based platform used to procure and manage temporary, contract, or contingent workers. Most VMS applications integrate with other on-premises or cloud-based enterprise HR systems. VMS software helps enterprises gain clear insight into who is working for them, as well as where, why, when, and at which rates.

AI in HR is used to streamline and automate HR processes across the employee lifecycle—from recruitment, hiring, and onboarding through talent management, learning, and performance.

SAP SuccessFactors HCM is part of SAP Business Suite and provides cloud-based human capital management software applications. It supports core HR and payroll, talent management, HR analytics and workforce planning, and employee experience management.
