SAP Evidence of Insurance

24x7 access to SAP’s evidence of insurance

Improving evidence of insurance for everyone

Helping the world run better is our operating principle and the basis of all we do at SAP.

By addressing complexity and innovating for future growth, we can radically simplify how we conduct business internally and externally. We use these advancements to support our customers and partners so they can run at their best.

That’s why we’ve discontinued issuing individual certificates of insurance in favor of the new industry standard – an electronic certificate of insurance (e-COI). This provides 24x7 digital access to SAP's evidence of insurance for the convenience of our customers and partners. It also helps reduce our impact on the environment.

e-COIs can satisfy SAP’s contractual requirements to provide evidence of corporate insurance coverage to third parties without needing to customize certificates for individual engagements. Blanket certificates are commonly used for:

  • Customer RFPs and contracts

  • Leasing or renting equipment, motor vehicles, or real estate

  • Off-site events or equipment rental

By using e-COIs, SAP will continue to provide evidence of insurance and meet terms of legally binding contracts and agreements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Like many insureds, SAP ceased issuing customized certificates of insurance to its thousands of customers in 2015 because the practice requires substantial resources without conferring any additional benefit to the certificate holder.

Refer to the certificate’s additional remarks schedule for confirmation that additional insured status is automatically granted through blanket endorsement where contractually required. This also applies to waiver of subrogation, as well as primary and noncontributory endorsements.

Like many of our peers in the technology industry, SAP does not carry a stand-alone cyber liability policy. Instead, cyber liability coverages are blended within the technology professional liability program. Evidence of this coverage can be found under the global certificates.

While the global e-COIs are relevant for most jurisdictions, select SAP insurance programs are written with the ability to evidence coverage locally in certain jurisdictions. The most frequently requested local certificates are posted on the e-COI site, but if a contract requires locally written insurance for a jurisdiction not listed, please reach out to our team.
