SAP S/4HANA Cloud, ABAP® environment, offers new extensibility options for ERP solutions
SAP releases a dedicated development environment for the ABAP® programming language on SAP S/4HANA Cloud that lets customers and partners adjust and extend their public cloud enterprise solutions while keeping a standardized and clean application core. This new environment offers an extensibility option to the established SAP BTP, ABAP environment, also known as Steampunk.
The new environment targets extension projects that require tight integration with operational processes running on SAP S/4HANA Cloud. Customers can now implement these projects directly on the SAP S/4HANA Cloud stack, ensuring optimized performance and quick realization.
The new environment also makes project upgrades easier and stabler. It provides a true cloud-ready development style based on the ABAP programming language using the ABAP RESTful application programming model, locally published APIs, and SAP Fiori design system.
Partners will be able to use this platform to create verticalized partner solutions that provide deep industry functionality for customers of SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
Integration, extension use cases for the RISE with SAP offering aid cloud-based digital transformation
SAP shares the first set of actionable use cases for the RISE with SAP offering, covering the integration, extension, and database and analytics capabilities of SAP BTP. The use cases provide additional functionality, such as custom code migration support and side-by-side extensibility, as well as reference architectures for topics such as data federation from hyperscaler services. This enables a multi-cloud experience and adds to other cloud deployment options on AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Alibaba Cloud. To assist EU customers in complying with local regulations, SAP offers an EU-only access option for SAP HANA Cloud in a dedicated region on AWS in Europe. SAP HANA Cloud continues to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) and optimize price and performance for customers through automation, operational efficiencies, and innovative technologies.
New extensions for SAP HANA Cloud enable real-time replication in the cloud
SAP plans to release new dynamic extension capabilities in SAP HANA Cloud to help customers move workloads to the cloud from their on-premise systems in real time. Users benefit from lower latency as well as the scalability, elasticity, and lower total cost of ownership of SAP HANA Cloud. This hybrid model lets customers transition to the cloud at their own pace while maximizing their previous investments in on-premise SAP HANA software.
Configuration localization toolkit enhances localization for SAP S/4HANA Cloud
SAP announces support in SAP S/4HANA Cloud for local version creation in customer implementation projects in countries and regions not covered by an SAP-delivered localization. This update empowers customers and partners to realize their localization needs independently.
Customers can use the configuration localization tool in the SAP Central Business Configuration tool to create new local versions, providing “rest of world” coverage. Customers can also use the localization toolkit for SAP S/4HANA Cloud to meet local requirements for payment formats, custom forms, compliance reporting, indirect tax calculation, and more. It also supports customers with best practices for implementing changes.
SAP plans to release 16 new local versions of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, adding to the 43 local versions already available. Local versions help enterprises scale their business processes across the globe and maintain compliance with legal and regulatory mandates in countries where they operate.
SAP IBP for Supply Chain deployments move to SAP HANA Cloud to improve processing, capacity
SAP announces that the SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain (SAP IBP for Supply Chain) solution can now run on SAP HANA Cloud, helping to boost overall infrastructure scalability. This move enables a completely elastic and self-adjusting cloud infrastructure that can increase the peak processing capacity of SAP IBP by a factor of 10 or more.
Supply chain planning often must consider billions of nodes across an extended supply chain, requiring extensive hardware and memory footprints. This update removes hardware bottlenecks so customers can benefit from faster decision-making capacity across comprehensive scenarios, globally optimized planning options, and more-extensive supply chain networks. The update supports more agile planning, resilient growth, and business continuity for SAP customers in the face of widespread supply chain disruptions and the ongoing semiconductor shortage.
SAP BW bridge facilitates more successful, streamlined public cloud migrations
The new SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, SAP Business Warehouse bridge lets organizations move data from the SAP BW application to the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud solution. This can help customers innovate and extend their data reach in the public cloud while leveraging existing environments. In early 2022, SAP plans to add new capabilities to simplify SAP BW-based integration and staging moves by employing a tool-based approach.
SAP Analytics Cloud further simplifies data analysis and reporting
SAP makes the data analyzer feature readily accessible in the Q4 2021 release of the SAP Analytics Cloud solution, simplifying exploration and insight discovery. Analysts can access data directly in SAP HANA and SAP BW without having to predefine a data model in SAP Analytics Cloud.
