As a global organization with employees from more than 150 nationalities, we’re proud of the rich culture we have created for our employees to be their authentic selves for our company to perform at its best.
We proactively promote diversity and inclusion, both within our workplace and in the marketplaces we serve. Our goal is to ensure that our workforce reflects the diversity of the societies and communities we work in, that our workplaces are welcoming for all, and that we serve the marketplace with a focus on rising everyone beyond the walls of SAP. We make every effort to ensure that all stages of the employee lifecycle are inclusive to enable employee success, hold leaders accountable, and build a diverse ecosystem – both internally and among our partners and customers.
Our 2021 Diversity and Inclusion Report offers an honest, transparent view of the progress SAP has made toward attracting and retaining diverse talent, building a culture of inclusion, and serving the marketplace with the diversity and inclusion philosophy as a clear navigator.

To leverage our collective diversity, we are building inclusive processes and structures to encourage behaviors that support the growth and development of all employees. A diverse team is more effective in addressing the needs of our global customers and partners, and inclusive culture brings people together to foster innovation.
The workforce of the future demands greater levels of creativity and innovation. The only way to achieve that is through business practices that prioritize diversity and inclusion. Hiring a diverse mix of people is just the first step, though. We must also eliminate institutional bias so that all employees can operate on equitable footing. We encourage our people to get involved, stand up, and speak up against racism and any other form of discrimination. This is what is right. This is what will make SAP better for years to come.
All employees have a role to play in building and maintaining an inclusive culture
Leaders are held accountable for inclusive hiring and inclusive behaviors, and we are committed to relentlessly pursuing our goal to increase the percentage of women in executive or in leadership positions in addition to reaching full gender parity for all levels. Through new frameworks, enablement materials, inclusive leadership training, and an accountability model for leaders, our leaders are force-multipliers when it comes to inclusive capabilities.
Common backgrounds, interests, or concerns can connect and influence culture and success
Employee network groups (ENGs) are leading the way to help ensure SAP is a place where everyone can bring their true selves to work every day and leverage our diversity as a catalyst for innovation.
The Autism Inclusion Network (AIN) consists of SAP autistic employees, family members, and allies bound together by shared values that pave the way for a future of inclusion-affirming workplaces for those across the autism spectrum.
With more than 1599 members globally, the Black Employee Network’s (BEN) mission is to foster a best run culture that increases awareness and inclusion for SAP employees of African descent; maintain focus on recruitment, retention and mentorship; empowering the community by advocating for exposure to positions that provide upward mobility.
An employee-driven network that helps women advance their careers and the company's business. By sharing professional insights, best practices, education and experience, we help one another develop skills and career advancing opportunities to drive SAP's success. The BWN strives to make a global impact with the help of our 90+ chapters and over 15,000 members.
Launched in 2019, Caregivers@SAP allows employees that give care to family and friends to connect with other caregivers in the SAP community. This ENG aims to create a safe space to allow people to connect to others who understand what they are going through.
With 2300+ members globally, Cultures@SAP thrives to drive inclusiveness and multicultural understanding. Cultures@SAP’s efforts towards creating a welcoming culture in the Metropole Rhine-Neckar region in southern Germany is now a role model and made it to the Technoseum Mannheim.
This is a partnership between Differently Abled People, SAP HEAR and SAP Vision that focuses on one of the key aspects of workplace inclusion – accessibility.
Currently active only in Latin America, the employee network group aims to drive cross-generational inclusion and networking.
Creates a safe and open platform for employees to discuss faith. SAP was recently recognized as a Top-Faith Friendly Company, according to the 2022 Corporate Religious Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (REDI) Index 2022, which includes Global Fortune 500 companies.
With 700+ members and 6 chapters across the globe, Latinos@SAP Employee Network strives to promote inclusion and social awareness of Latino descent.
With 1900+ members and 4 chapters across the globe, this Employee Network strives to promote inclusion and social awareness of Pan-Asian descent. The members support one another through professional development, community engagement, and career networking.
This 20 year old Employee Network Group consists of members from the LGBTQ+ community and allies. With over 8000+ members and 39 Chapters across the company, we continue to fight for equality.
With over 500+ members across SAP, Veterans@SAP is focused on community building and inclusion of veterans. It is committed to assisting the transition of 21st century warriors to 21st century workforce.
SAP Product Accessibility
Accessibility deals with individual stories. Everyone has unique abilities and the unique ability to contribute. At SAP, we are proud to say that making our software work for more people has been and continues to be a high priority. We bring accessibility to life with design and development: accessibility features, defined accessibility requirements, and processes are the keys to making our products more accessible.
Accessibility refers to the possibility for everyone, including people who are differently-abled, to access and use technology and information products. From an aging workforce to more than 1 billion people with disabilities worldwide (according to the World Health Organization), many people need accessible technologies.
Business enterprises have increasingly become aware of the requirements of people who need accessible technologies to contribute to a work environment. Accessibility is not only of social but also economic importance for the enterprise.
SAP takes pride in its diverse workforce. To foster a global culture of inclusion, we are strongly committed to respecting and protecting human rights throughout the lifecycle of our products and services: from design through development to use. Hence, our products are increasingly guided by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, included in US Section 508, and the harmonized EN 301 549 including WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Options for high contrast appearance, support of assistive tools such as screen readers or speech recognition are just some examples of SAP’s accessibility features. For smooth interoperability, device-specific accessibility support is taken into account. Operating systems, browsers, and assistive tools are tested against the availability and support of common standards.
Available now, our accessibility features are incorporated into control sets and libraries of major SAP UI Technologies, like SAP UI5.
- SAP Accessibility Status Documents: The "SAP Accessibility Status Documents" inform about product-specific accessibility features. In particular, they describe the testing environment and report its current status on standards, guidelines, and requirements. The SAP Accessibility Status Documents are available as VPAT® US for our customers in the U.S. and as VPAT® EN 301 549 for our German and international customers.

- Personalization and Customization: Often, built-in accessibility features work "out-of-the-box." Yet, users with specific disabilities might ask for additional personalization options, or certain parameters need to be configured to enable the right features.
End-user documentation contains information such as keyboard shortcuts, personalization options regarding colors, contrasts, and font sizes, as well as accessible alternatives.

Our goal is that everyone, in particular the differently-abled, can use SAP software. Accessibility is a guiding principle in SAP’s development process and implemented as such in its policies and standards for software design. In addition, accessibility is firmly reflected in our quality assurance processes. Staying up-to-date, SAP products adhere to the newest industry standards, such as "Accessible Rich Internet Application" (ARIA).
As an active member of the W3C WCAG and the W3C Accessibility Guidelines working groups, SAP contributes to easier and optimized support of accessible browser-based applications in the future.
SAP’s Accessibility Competence Center in Walldorf, Germany, creates internal standards for accessibility development, documentation, and testing, offers consulting and training for developers, and serves as direct customer contact for all accessibility-related questions.

SAP commits to encouraging a diverse partner and customer ecosystem and promoting standards for supplier diversity. We set targets for diverse suppliers, and leverage SAP Ariba to encourage the use of diverse suppliers in the SAP ecosystem. We work closely with the SAP Procurement Office and SAP Ariba Development team to embed accessibility requirements into processes.

Launched in 2013, SAP was the first global tech company to create a program to leverage the unique abilities of people on the autism spectrum.

SAP is ensuring all innovators are empowered to start-up with SAP. SAP.iO Foundries No Boundaries is the first comprehensive inclusive entrepreneurship initiative for underestimated entrepreneurs in the business software industry.
It has supported 200 startups founded or led by a female or underestimated entrepreneurs by July 2022. This is 6 months ahead of the initial 5 year goal set to be reached by 2023.
