Frequently asked questions

Who joins the program? Who should apply?
  • SVNT program participants are graduates with experience and interest in development/engineering, UX/UI design, and data science who have graduated less than a year before the start date.
  • Program starters need to be completely done with school by the Jan or July start date.
  • Participants come from diverse backgrounds as innovative thinkers and doers who share a passion for improving people’s lives.
When does the program start
  • The Silicon Valley Next Talent program has has 3 cohorts in Fall, Winter and Summer
  • Specific start dates are defined in the job description.
  • Participants must start on outlined start date — no exceptions.
How long is the program and each rotation?
  • SVNT is an 18 months long program. Participants undergo 2-3 rotations that are each 6 months in length.
  • Participants will be considered for roles throughout and at the end of the program and may obtain a fulltime engagement in a team before the end of the 18 months.
How do the rotations work?
  • Participants will join SAP and in their first week have informational interviews with possible teams.
  • The teams and participants will provide feedback on their preference.
  • Based on mutual feedback each participant will be matched to a team by the end of their first week.
  • Subsequent rotations will also follow this process of interview, feedback, and matching.
What kind of teams are participants placed on?
  • Participants are matched with teams across SAP, including teams focused on cloud delivery, customer experience, travel, retail, internet of things, AI, and more.
  • Each team has a different focus and strategy; that is why we have this program — to help you find your perfect match!
  • As a participant you could rotate into our start-up incubator and help build a product from the ground up, or with our fully developed layered retail and ecommerce solution working to enhance features or bring machine learning into the fold; or, work in our innovation teams deciding how and where SAP will grow and what technologies to include in the growth.
  • Each team’s culture is different, but overall SAP is an awarded best place to work with a sense of comradery. Other than rotation work, what else does the program provide?
  • Beyond rotations, the Next Talent Program provides formal trainings where participants will learn about SAP’s history, business goals, and meet with their future managers.
  • Throughout  the program, there are fireside chats with influential members of SAP who give insight into their experience and line of business at SAP, as well as Tech Talks on specific strategic topics, and learning sprints (i.e.. Investing 101, Benefits, Imposter syndrome).
  • There are strategic projects completed in groups which tackle design and business challenges to prepare participants with the SAP knowledge and skills to become SAP business ready.
  • Participants  receive bi-monthly performance reviews to encourage continuous learning and growth and grow supported by a 3 layer mentorship concept: SVNT Lead, Rotation Mentor and/or Buddy, and SVNT Mentor   
What type of mentorship is in this program?
  • As a SVNT program participant you will have monthly meetings with your SVNT lead. The SVNT lead is your coach and mentor throughout the program, and helps you to develop soft and technical skills.
  • In addition, meetings with your rotation mentor and buddy establish a project timeline, provide guidance on completing project(s) as well as allow for day to day feedback.
  • An assigned SVNT Alum mentor helps you better understand SAP, SVNT, and shine in your rotations.
Does SVNT provide sponsorship and relocation?
  • Yes, SVNT provides sponsorship on a case by case basis, however participants must have valid work authorization in the US for the entirety of the program (18 month).
  • SVNT will consider providing relocation on a case by case basis.
What will the day-to-day look like?
  • In general, participants will work on diverse teams, in which they will experience a balance of independent work, team collaboration, and strategic projects.
  • Participants are full members of their rotation teams and are expected to learn the product, build up expertise, and own a project. They also attend team meetings and offsites if applicable.
Can I apply to more than one role?
  • Yes, you can apply to more than one role
  • You can choose to take as many virtual assessments as you'd like
  • We are considering applicants for 2020 cohorts. You will be auto sorted to the appropriate cohort depending on your graduation date.
    January 2020 cohort: Graduation date must be between May 2019 and January 2020
    July 2020 cohort: Graduation date must be between January 2020 and July 2020
What is the difference between SVNT and a regular hire or an internship?
  • Internships are for those still in college; interns receive intern pay and benefits and stick to one team.
  • SVNT program participants are full time, salaried employees who rotate through the business.
  • Regular hires enter indefinitely into a team. Experiences vary depending on team and there is no guarantee of mentorship, tailored training, a network, or a dedicated lead laser-focused on helping you grow.
  • Overall, SVNT will accelerate your career by providing the guidance, mentorship, and opportunities to experience 3 years of work in just one and half year.
What does it take to be successful in this program?

We are looking for people who are independent, who crave change, and who are constantly learning and self-teaching new things. People who are able to connect dots to understand the big picture and not only comprehend it, but translate it into actionable tasks. We need hungry, proactive, and curious talent who get things done.
