Stonebridge Companies Chooses SAP® ERP and Duet™ Software to Automate Business Processes and Simplify Employee Access to Critical Data
Leading Midmarket Hotel Management Company Selects SAP Over Oracle as Foundation for Continued Growth
DENVER, Colo. - March 02, 2007 - SAP America Inc., a subsidiary of SAP AG (NYSE: SAP), today announced that Stonebridge Companies, an award-winning hotel development and management company, has selected the SAP® ERP 2005 application and Duet™ software to drive future growth. After a thorough evaluation, Stonebridge chose to work with SAP for its clear vision, superior product functionality and support for midsize companies. Adopting SAP solutions based on the SAP NetWeaver® platform is part of Stonebridge’s enterprise-wide initiative to automate all of its business processes, including financial and human capital administration, compliance reporting and real estate management.
Stonebridge Companies develops and manages hotel properties across the western United States. It holds franchise licenses with Hilton Hotels, Marriott International, InterContinental Hotels Group, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Carlson Hotels and Choice Hotels International. Before selecting SAP solutions, Stonebridge managed its business processes on paper, which was time consuming and error prone. With representatives from more than 40 properties sending in reports, invoices and other documents, employees were burdened by paperwork that needed to be physically compiled and delivered, entered manually into computer programs and stored in filing cabinets. Stonebridge Companies’ decision to implement a state-of-the-art enterprise resource planning (ERP) system will enable the company to move all of its business processes and data online, and become a modern, paperless environment.
“We turned to SAP over other vendors because they gave us a clear, simple path to digitize our business and place information in the hands of employees across the company,” said Navin Dimond, president and CEO, Stonebridge Companies. “SAP gives us a dependable, trusted IT infrastructure and innovative solutions that fit our industry’s requirements – and help us better align IT and business objectives. In the hospitality industry, fiscal oversight and accountability to our investors is critical, which means we must be able to accurately predict how well our properties will perform. SAP will enable us to improve our service to shareholders, consumers and business partners.”
The company also plans to deploy Duet software, a solution that allows people to interact with SAP business processes and data through Microsoft Office applications. Because Duet only requires end users’ familiarity with Microsoft Office, the solution will be simple for employees to use and reduce training costs for the organization. With the simplicity in Duet, all employees – regardless of their technical skills – can easily access critical business information and activities. Duet will help move Stonebridge into the digital age by leveraging a user-friendly environment that is familiar to anyone who uses Office regularly.
A leader in the highly competitive hotel industry, Stonebridge expects to double in size over the next several years, and SAP will provide the IT backbone for the organization as it expands. A key factor in Stonebridge’s selection process was the SAP ecosystem, which provides both vertical expertise and support for sustaining rapid growth of its mid-market customers. In partnership with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading provider of IT services for the travel and hospitality industry, SAP can address industry-specific challenges for Stonebridge while offering the company a solid foundation for future growth. TCS will customize the SAP solutions for the hospitality industry and establish a system to measure key performance indicators such as cost by room, revenue per room and revenue forecasting.
“SAP ERP 2005 combined with Duet gives Stonebridge the user productivity required to ensure real business results,” said Bill McDermott, president and CEO, SAP Americas. “Our ecosystem approach combined with innovative technology will enable Stonebridge to better serve its clients and to enhance its return on investment.”
“We believe technology has a strong role to play in helping travel and hospitality companies increase efficiency, manage risk and build new business models,” said Srini Krishnaswamy, practice head, Tata Consultancy Services. “Stonebridge Companies is a true visionary in the hospitality industry. Together with SAP, Tata Consultancy Services can offer growing companies like Stonebridge the domain expertise to stay ahead of the competition.”
