SAP For Travel & Logistics Services

Business Processes For Airlines

SAP for Travel & Logistics Services enable airlines to optimize critical customer-related processes such as frequent-flyer program management and customer service, as well as key financial and reporting processes.

SAP solutions support the core business processes of airlines, including:

Passenger Services Planning and Development

  • Marketing, strategic planning, and sourcing – Design, execute, coordinate, and monitor all marketing initiatives. Plan routes and the types of aircraft used and create seasonal schedules and timetables for crew and fleets. Manage vendor contract negotiation, administration, and monitoring.
  • Financials and analytics – Determine the profitability of a route within a given period of time; compare the profitability of various routes; and decide whether to add, change, or eliminate routes. Perform revenue accounting, including sales data processing, uplift data processing, and the matching of revenue to passengers. Split revenue between airlines based on legs flown and carry out interline billing between airlines.
  • Human resource management – Help crew and cabin-crew members keep their skills up to date by ensuring they take courses at prescribed intervals, tracking their skills, and providing automatic reminders and individualized course offerings. Manage complex global payroll, taking into consideration union requirements as well as rules about how to compensate crew and cabin-crew members.
  • Sales and service – Provide reservations and ticketing for scheduled trips through airline offices, travel agencies, or online reservation sites. Manage relationships and contracts with corporate customers and travel agents. Maintain a customer interaction center for gathering information, providing personal assistance through operators in call centers, and handling complaints efficiently.

Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul

  • Maintenance engineering – Create, monitor, and optimize an airline maintenance program. Manage physical assets, equipment, and engineering changes over the complete life cycle to optimize equipment performance and availability. Watch for discrepancies that can significantly affect aircraft reliability, maintenance workload, and costs.
  • Advanced planning – Perform mid- to long-term forecasting and scheduling of major service for aircraft and components. Simulate business alternatives and the resulting impact on service schedules and resources.
  • Maintenance operations – Plan and execute maintenance services while an aircraft is assigned to the revenue schedule and in an aircraft hangar. Inspect, repair, and overhaul aircraft engines and components or major assemblies, running component maintenance as a separate line of business or in support of the airframe maintenance and engine maintenance business.
  • Parts and tools management – Plan, align, and forecast service parts inventories, resources, and procedures to ensure optimal customer service and response with minimal risk and cost. Verify, create, validate, and track warranty claims, analyze defective parts and the associated costs, and handle returned parts and vendor recovery. Track and manage tools individually as part of inventory management and during maintenance execution.
