SAP Appoints Rear Admiral Robert E. Cowley III Ret. to Lead Defense Business Unit



WASHINGTON, D.C. - October 11, 2007 - SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that Rear Admiral Robert E. Cowley III Ret. has been hired as vice president of the Defense industry business unit. In this role, effective October 3, 2007, Cowley will help drive SAP’s industry leadership efforts in providing strategic software solutions to defense organizations around the world.

With his leadership and experience, SAP will continue to build on its ongoing momentum in the global defense market.”

Bringing vast experience managing large numbers of people, resources and budgets, Rear Admiral Cowley joins SAP from the U.S. Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he served as the organization’s commander and chief executive officer, overseeing more than 15,000 employees and $3.0 billion in annual sales across a worldwide network of Navy exchanges, stores and support services centers. Prior to this, Cowley was deputy assistant secretary for Acquisition Management in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition) and competition advocate general of the Navy.

Cowley’s management experience is augmented by prior tours of duty, with awards including Distinguished Service Medal (two awards), Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (five awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards) and Navy Achievement Medal.

Cowley is a graduate of the University of Dallas at Irving, Texas, with a master’s degree from George Mason University. He is also a graduate of the University of Michigan Executive Program.
