Leading U.S. Nuclear Plant Chooses SAP Software
STP Nuclear Operating Company Selects SAP® Business Suite for Enterprise Asset Management at South Central Texas Energy Plant
IRVING, Texas - June 17, 2008 - SAP America, Inc., a subsidiary of SAP AG (NYSE: SAP), today announced that energy producer STP Nuclear Operating Company (STPNOC) has selected SAP® Business Suite applications for its business processes.
Recognized industry-wide as operating two of the world’s most productive nuclear units, STPNOC needed a powerful and scalable software platform. The industry-specific software portfolio from SAP will help STPNOC achieve efficiencies in asset and work management, supply chain and other key business functions. The SAP software will support STPNOC’s business functions only; it will not support nuclear operations at the plant.
Enterprise asset management encompasses the effective planning, operation and lifecycle management of business systems and structures—the basic elements on which business processes and performance goals are based. The enterprise asset management functionality of the SAP® Service and Asset Management solution provides a comprehensive framework for managing all aspects of the business asset lifecycle, providing end-to-end processes that leverage the enterprise resource planning (ERP) core data and information, and enabling companies to reduce costs, better manage capital expenditure and improve asset utilization. As the underlying technology platform, SAP NetWeaver® will integrate complementary software from SAP partners, enabling STPNOC to manage business functions while minimizing the need for custom integration.
“Adoption by an industry-leading nuclear power provider such as STPNOC further underscores SAP’s long-standing commitment to the utilities industry through our thought leadership and business technology solutions,” said David Laker, senior vice president, National Utilities Practice, SAP America, Inc. “SAP’s robust business process platform provides utilities companies with the tools they need to develop solutions for the industry’s most complex and evolving challenges.”
STPNOC’s selection of the SAP Business Suite is for the software only. STPNOC will issue requests for proposal for blueprinting and implementing the SAP Business Suite at the plant in the near future.
STPNOC is the latest member of the SAP Nuclear Council, which focuses on opportunities to share best practices in nuclear business management and provides a forum for networking and collaboration with SAP and its partner community.
