City University Case Study
City University, in the heart of London’s financial district, has been a member of the UKI Programme since 2004. However it has been using SAP as a teaching resource since 1998.
The study of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is a key
component of both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes at The School of
Informatics.. Students learn about how to analyse,
design and implement ERP software systems, and gain practical experience of using SAP ERP
solutions to business problems.
Students are taught ERP concepts, business process modelling and the
role of ERP systems for integrating business processes. Advanced topics build on City’s
research into ERP systems at the School of Informatics, and students
gain an understanding of the organisational challenges of implementing ERP
Systems across an enterprise.
Practical experience of ERP systems is centred on SAP ERP, and in the
Computer laboratories students explore the core transactions and processes of the
Sales and distribution module of SAP ERP. Through active learning on the SAP
ERP system students appreciate the benefits of systems integration and the
value of engineering enterprise systems. Students exercise their business process
Design skills using the business process modelling case tool ARIS.
City is also one of the pilot universities for SAP’s TERP10 programme through which selected partner Universities will be able to offer the SAP TERP10 Business Process Integration Certification.
