End User Training

Design and Prototype

A critical element of the Realisation phase is the development of the End User training materials, which will then be delivered to the end users during the final preparation.  The training materials that you will develop on your project will depend on a number of factors that will have been identified in the training and change needs analysis. These could include elements such as:

  • Presentations - Used to set the context of the training course. Explain concepts and processes.
  • Exercises - These may be based on a training system or using simulations of the production system.
  • Work instructions - Detailed user manuals that use screenshots and menu paths to show the progression through a particular transaction.
  • E-learning - This can take many forms and addresses issues of access to training and provides a different and complementary learning style to classroom led training.
  • Workshops - These usually take the form of structured learning events with a particular goal. They work well to establish best practice within a community of users.

Prototyping each of the different deliverables will help the business understand their use and will often gain support as the business can visualise how effective your training programme will be.
