Frequently Asked Questions

Certification

"Why are the Academy Tracks changing?"
SAP Solution Academy has re-aligned the course content to focus on the business processes and solutions rather than software modules. This is also consistent with a re-orientation of SAP education to the new consultant profiles demanded by customers. Consultants rarely cover a whole SAP Solution, choosing to focus instead on specific business processes within a solution. To meet these requirements you will see changes such as the re-unification of the FI and CO Academies to become the "Managerial and Financial Accounting Fundamentals academy".

"We don't ask for PP Consultants any more, we need Supply Chain Management consultants for the area of Supply Chain Operations?"
Customers don't think in terms of software module functionality, but rather in terms of their own business processes, they expect the same from software manufacturers and the consultants that implement the software.

The approach to implementation has changed. There is a move away from a product focus to a solution focus. The product approach says 'Here is the product, what do you want to do with it?'. The solution approach says 'What is my business need, therefore what product do I need to use'. It doesn't really matter whether the product is R/3, or one of the newer ones such as APO, CRM or BW, as long as the customer gets a solution. Hence the mix of R/3 PP and APO in both SCM Manufacturing and SCM Planning.

"What is the New Certification called?"
The new certification is called Certification 2002, and the R/3 components are based on Release 4.6C. The previous Certification 2000 was based on Release 4.6B.

"Is the new examinations harder?"
No, but they aren’t easier either. The format and pass-rates for Certification 2002 examinations are the same as for Certification 2000. The only thing that has changed is a realignment of the content along solution lines.

"How do I upgrade my certification?"
In some cases, you will not need to sit a Delta examination to enable you to obtain the latest certification.

"What is the pass rate?"
The overall pass rate is 70%.

"When do I get to know my exam result?"
After completing the exam, the candidate gets a result immediately.   These results are then sent to SAP AG for final verification and uploading.

"If I fail, what is the waiting period?”
A candidate can only retake the test after one month’s waiting period.  (Refer to the Policy for Participation in SAP’s Consultant Certification Program for further details)

"What is the SAP “PT” number?"
This is a unique ID number generated per candidate on any course enrolment.

"How long after writing the exam will I receive my certificate?"
Once the exam results have been verified by SAP AG and the qualifications uploaded will the certificates be issued.  All certificates will be posted to the candidate as per the address supplied.  It could take approximately 2-3 weeks before the certificates can be issued.

"When do I receive my Certification ID Card?"
The student Certification ID Cards are issued by SAP AG.  SAP Africa has no control over the creation or distribution of the Certification cards.  It could take approximately 6 months before you receive your card.

"Can I obtain a list of certified consultants?"

"Can a headcounter or anyone else get a list of the people have certified at a company?"

The candidate may select any date available from the Planned Course List and register.

The vouchers are only valid at the three SAP Africa Education Centres in South Africa, namely Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.

A voucher is offered during an academy as an alternative to writing the exam on the last day of the academy.

Delegates can make payment either directly into SAP Africa’s banking account or pay by: cash, credit card or bank guaranteed cheque.

"Can I get certified in more than one area of SAP?"
