SAP Japan and Dell Help Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Resolve Business Challanges By Offering SAP Business One

-Jointly Providing Package, Establishing Partner Organization, and Launching Joint Marketing-

Tokyo - 2006年10月4日 - SAP Japan and Dell Japan announced today that the companies will collaborate to increase sales of SAP Business One, an ERP package for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from SAP Japan, in order to promote the deployment of ERP solutions among SMEs.

In addition to financial and managerial accounting, SAP Business One provides a rich feature set to support business growth, including sales, purchasing, inventory management, CRM, and SFA. The package can be deployed quickly and inexpensively, and provides a systematic foundation for legal compliance and improved internal control.

Dell has long focused on the SME market, which has high latent demand for IT solutions. Dell was a leader in establishing a sales organization specifically to address customers in this market, applying the advantages of the Dell Direct Model to directly supply customers in SMEs with products and services based on industry-standard technology. Due to strong support from such customers, Dell has maintained the top spot in Intel Architecture (IA) server market share for businesses with fewer than 500 employees for seventeen straight quarters, since the second quarter of 2002. Beginning today, the two companies will provide two models of SAP Business One Evaluation Package, which bundles SAP Business One with Dell’s high-performance PowerEdge IA server.

The two companies will also establish the Dell SAP Partner Organization in mid-October. This organization will perform system sizing, infrastructure implementation services, and loaning of demonstration and evaluation environments to software integrators who customize or develop add-ons for SAP Business One. These services will support integrators in deploying easy, high-quality ERP solutions. The two companies will also cooperate on marketing, holding joint seminars and running Web promotions to advance the deployment of ERP solutions into SMEs.

This partnership is also planned to expand into solutions for midsize companies based on mySAP ERP and the SAP Best Practices deployment automated setup tool.

Customers can deploy SAP’s proven ERP system for a small investment, then expand the system as needed in the future. This system allows businesses to address the needs of companies today, such as establishing compliance with internal controls and increasing security.

The two companies will cooperate on the following activities.

1) Providing the SAP Business One Evaluation Package
The SAP Business One Evaluation Package includes the PowerEdge server and SAP Business One, bundled with the SAP Business One Easy Deployment Manual from ELTEX Inc., and the Starter Kit Lite, which includes ledger templates. These bundles are sold as the Dell ERP Quick Deployment Package: Basic Model (Standard) and the Dell ERP Quick Deployment Package: Basic Model (Premium). Pricing from Dell starts at 980,000 yen for the Standard package, and 1,980,000 yen for the Premium version (not including tax).

2) Establishment of the Dell SAP Partner Organization
Dell will establish the Dell SAP Partner Organization in October, for the purpose of promoting easy, high-quality SAP Business One deployment. This partner organization will meet regularly to share information among participating companies and promote cooperation. The organization will provide the following services and support to participating software integrators.

  • Provide information regarding SAP Business One (product and technology information, deployment examples, etc.)
  • System Sizing
  • Loan SAP Business One demonstration and evaluation environments (Dell SAP Competence Center)
  • Infrastructure implementation service
  • Sales of hardware (servers, storage) and SAP Business One licenses

SAP Japan will support the activities of Dell and Dell partners by providing information, etc.

3) Joint marketing by SAP Japan and Dell
SAP Japan and Dell will engage in the following joint marketing efforts with the aim of promoting the deployment of ERP solutions in SMEs.
