    • Mobile sales cockpit for the Apple iPad: empowering your sales force with simple, intuitive iPad applications from SAP to manage sales activities from the road. In this demo, you'll see how an intuitive sales cockpit from SAP running on an iPad can enable your sales team to browse a product catalog together with a customer to accelerate buying decisions, instantly place customer orders and check shipping availability in SAP ERP, and enable sales people to manage their time and customer base more effectively, view sales numbers for planning, and schedule follow-on activities for better, faster business results. In this example, I'm a sales person working for Sander – a manufacturer of table cloths and home decoration items. I meet with my customer, using my iPad to access the sales cockpit to help us explore his product needs over the next few months. I can work when I have connectivity to a network, as well as when I’m offline. I’ve already pre-synchronized, so we can work in an offline mode. Once in the sales cockpit, I can easily access information about all of my customers, products, and order histories, as well as view sales performance reports. First, I view my customer list. I search for my customer’s company name – Hugo Gruber – using an alphabetical order list filter or by typing in the name. My customer needs to browse product options and quickly place an order for a new project. Using the sales cockpit, I can instantly access the product catalog specific to Hugo Gruber. It allows me to display the full range of products I can offer him. Right now, he wants to explore the Linea product line. As you can see, there are certain colors and sizes available in this product line – information that’s available through the backend software such as the SAP ERP application or the SAP Customer Relationship Management application. At any time, we can view images for all of the available Linea options. My customer makes his choice, so I’ll use the sales cockpit to place the order right then and there. First, we select the correct sizes and colors. We can also see current stock levels in our warehouse. He selects 8 pieces of this product, 10 pieces of this one, and 5 pieces of this one and then hits OK. His company’s prenegotiated pricing for each item is indicated here. If I don’t want to show him the inventory data, I can hide it. Now we go directly to the shopping cart. If he decides to remove something in the shopping cart, we simply select the line item and hit the delete button. He also selects the date of delivery – in this case, February 23rd, 2011 – and then we place the order. Here, we can see that for this transaction, an order number – number 544 – has been created and saved. To verify that the new order has been saved in the backend ERP system, we first synchronize the data and then check the online order history for Hugo Gruber. We can see that order number 544 is in the system for Hugo Gruber. Since the details in the sales cockpit and SAP ERP match each other, we can be confident that the order has been placed and will be queued up for fulfillment. If needed, we could create another order on the fly – in this case, for 50 items from our Gemini product line. Once everything’s been added to the shopping cart, we place the order. Again, I verify that the order number for this additional sale – number 545 – has been generated by our SAP ERP backend. Now that we’ve placed the additional orders, we explore the customer’s buying history in more detail. Here, we can see the status of all of Hugo Gruber orders, the top 10 products ordered overall, and other sales information that helps me answer any questions he has. As you can see, with a mobile sales cockpit running on my iPad, it’s easier than ever to work with my customers and close business quickly to better meet their needs. After returning home from my successful sales call at Hugo Gruber, I schedule a follow-up visit back to Germany and plan for other sales activities. The mobile sales cockpit application will simplify my trip planning by automatically mapping a route from my home location in the United States to the customer destination in Germany or wherever else I need to go. As a result, I can quickly be on the road again and at the next customer site to close more business!
