The provincial government of Nova Scotia is sharing the SAP ERP platform and advocating a shared services model across municipalities, academia, and the healthcare sector – driving economies of scale that that result in more efficient use of time, money, and expertise.
Today, more than 80% of the provincial population are supported by SAP-enabled systems, and the province estimates it has saved Canadian taxpayers CDN$43 million.
Glasgow City Council: Integrating Decentralized Systems for Process Improvement
Glasgow City Council, in the United Kingdom, delivers services to 600,000 citizens. To increase efficiency in the delivery of services and meet the core objectives of the UK Transformational Government Agenda, it replaced over 200 legacy systems across finance, asset management, payroll, HR, procurement, and performance management into a single platform – from SAP – deployed in a shared services model.
Glasgow deployed SAP NetWeaver components and SAP Business Suite, achieving cost savings approaching €1.5 million annually in payroll processing, with total project savings of €11.7 - €14.6 annually.
