WASHINGTON, D.C. - July 09, 2002 - SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced that it has been selected to provide e-government solutions to three new municipal organizations in the state of Texas for improved citizen service and information-sharing capabilities reaching approximately 1.5 million constituents. The City of San Antonio, Bexar County, and City Public Service (of San Antonio) join a growing list of federal, state, and local governments who are seeking improved constituent services, more efficient operations, and improved financial results through the implementation of state of the art e-government solutions. SAP is the leading provider of software solutions to the private sector and a growing leader in sales to government bodies in the United States through its subsidiary SAP Public Services, Inc., based in Washington, D.C.

City of San Antonio On June 20, 2002, the city council of San Antonio, Texas selected mySAP.com as the platform for its comprehensive e-government initiatives, including customer relationship management (CRM), e-procurement, portals, human resources, and financials. San Antonio, the ninth largest city in the United States, selected SAP after an evaluation process that included PeopleSoft, Siebel Systems, and Hansen, among others.
“SAP® solutions offered the most advanced functionality and the greatest value and were the best fit overall with our e-government vision,” explained Milo Nitschke, finance director for the city of San Antonio. “Citizens of San Antonio will find that we have all of the relevant information at our fingertips to better serve them when they call us. They can also use Internet portals from SAP to gain personalized access to public information, services, and functions.”
Deloitte Consulting is conducting the implementation of SAP solutions in the city of San Antonio. Plans for phase one of the implementation, which includes customer relationship management functionality, will be deployed in April 2003.
Bexar County and City Public Service On June 25, 2002 Bexar County, located in the San Antonio region, selected mySAP.com to streamline administrative operations. City Public Service, the city-owned electric and gas utility in San Antonio, will add call center functionality to its existing mySAP.com infrastructure later this year.
