Modern Terminals Partners SAP and Accenture to Roll Out ERP Solutions
Implementation begins in its Hong Kong business unit
Hong Kong – January 23, 2008 - SAP and Accenture jointly announced today that they have been appointed by Modern Terminals Limited (Modern Terminals), the longest-established container operator in Hong Kong, to implement SAP ERP solution in Modern Terminals locally in Hong Kong. The solution is expected to help enhance Modern Terminals' performance across different business units and strengthen the company foundation for future growth.
Modern Terminals' investment in this project includes both software and hardware. The SAP ERP solution in this initial roll-out, which will be implemented by Accenture, will cover financial management, human resources management, maintenance, inventory and procurement management in Modern Terminals' Hong Kong business unit. It is expected to go live by the end of 2008.
Modern Terminals expects to extend the solution to its different business units in Mainland China. It is planned to extend the solution to Modern Terminals’ 65-percent subsidiary Da Chan Bay Terminal One in 2009. This new first-class terminal facility is located in Shenzhen, serving the Pan-Pearl River Delta cargo-catchment areas. Overall, more than 1,600 users will be trained to use this solution and benefited from it.
Taking full advantage of SAP and Accenture's demonstrated working relationship, proven industry best practice in logistics and the container business, and local experience, Modern Terminals can enjoy the followings in this project:
More streamlined business process;
Higher level of data integrity and higher integration among different business functions;
Higher visibility of corporate-wide management information to support critical and strategic decision making;
A strategic scaleable system for other Modern Terminals business units
