The nuts and bolts of success

From its family beginnings, the Würth Group has grown into the world’s market leader in assembly and fastening materials.



  • 1945Adolf and Alma Würth founded the company to wholesale nuts, bolts, and screws.
  • 1954 Reinhold Würth became the company’s head at 19 years of age, after his father’s early death.
  • 1962 First subsidiary outside Germany was founded in the Netherlands.
  • 1972Würth Art Collection started with purchase of expressionist Emil Nolde’s watercolor “Cloud Reflection in the Marsh.” The collection now comprises about 12,500 works.
  • 1975 Company started to make own products and sell them under the Würth brand.
  • 1987Würth acquired company in Japan, establishing its presence in five continents.
  • 1992Company opened new headquarters that included an integrated museum, open to the public.
  • 2006Bettina Würth took over as chair of the Würth Group advisory board, and her father, Reinhold Würth, became chair emeritus.
  • 2010Würth Group celebrated 65th anniversary, and Reinhold Würth celebrated his 75th birthday.
