Nearly 100 years of glass technology


  • 1918 Founded as Nippon Sheet Glass Company.
  • 1970Added production facilities in Europe; opened North American headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Challenge

Curing procurement

As NSG grew, procurement became more difficult, with a patchwork of legacy technology and a failed e-procurement implementation. Many processes were manual and inefficient. To become a more strategic purchasing organization, NSG needed to restructure their procurement organization to empower their entire global team.


A clear picture

Within the first six months after Ariba implementation, the NSG Group enabled over 375 suppliers and processed 45,000 e-invoices (over 90% “touchless”). Real-time information sharing across countries, time zones, and functions has improved decision-making quality and speed.



Running smooth as glass

Technology adoption has been dramatic: over 250 users ran 529 sourcing events and loaded 2,296 contracts into Ariba solutions in the first half of FY12. With the support of Ariba, the NSG Group has now a more strategic, integrated, and credible purchasing organization.
