CONGRATULATIONS ERNIE ELS ON YOUR INDUCTION INTO THE WORLD GOLF HALL OF FAME
SAP Golf ambassador Ernie Els has become one of the youngest golfers inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame during a ceremony in St Augustine, Florida.
The World Golf Hall of Fame is home to golf's greatest players and contributors. Membership is, quite simply, golf's highest honor. Those players recognized within the hall of fame represent individuals who have positively impacted the game of golf on the grandest scale. Golfers, both professional and amateur, as well as architects, journalists, innovators, and teachers, are among those celebrated in the World Golf Hall of Fame.
His first time on the PGA tour ballot, Ernie was elected with an emphatic majority vote – demonstrating the high respect he has garnered within the game of golf. He becomes the second SAP ambassador to be inducted into the Hall of Fame after fellow South African Gary Player, who was inducted in 1974.
Upon hearing of Ernie's induction Gary observed, "Ernie certainly deserves this recognition, as he epitomizes a 'world' golfer. He is a credit to the game and an ambassador for the sport."
Els is involved with a variety of charitable endeavors, including his significant participation with the Autism Speaks Ad Council public-service announcement. Els also started the Els for Autism Foundation, established in 2009 with the goal of funding an autism center of excellence.
Everyone at SAP congratulates Ernie Els on this achievement and wish him all the best in his upcoming tournaments.
