PAULA CREAMER: OFF TO A GREAT START IN 2011
Paula Creamer has successfully started the 2011 season in the LPGA tour off with a 5th place finish at the Honda LPGA in Thailand. In 2010, Paula had to withdraw from this tournament after the first round due to a thumb injury – so her solid 5th place performance is a great way to start 2011 and maintain her world ranking of number 10.
Paula next competes in the HSBC Championships in Singapore before returning to the United States. She will then play in several tournaments in preparation for the first major of the year, the Kraft Nabisco Championship, held at Mission Hills Country Club, California, from March 31 – April 3.
Everyone at SAP wishes Paula all the very best with her upcoming tournaments.
Paula's Career History
Following an exceptional junior amateur career, Paula first gained global recognition by finishing 13th in the U.S. Women's Open in 2004 as a teenager. She then achieved second place at the LPGA tour's ShopRite Classic. Paula went on to play 10 LPGA tour tournaments as an amateur in 2003 and 2004, finishing in the top 20 in 5 of those tournaments.
Turning pro in 2005, Paula won the Sybase Classic tournament just before her high school graduation – making her the third-youngest winner in LPGA history, and she won twice more that year. Easily qualifying for the U.S. Solheim Cup team, Paula led her team to victory with a 3-1-1 record. Achieving 11 additional top 10 placements, she was named LPGA's top rookie of 2005 and has collected more than 10 professional titles since 2006.
Paula started the scholarship program, Paula 4 Kids in 2005 and the Paula Creamer Celebrity Classic in 2007, in support of First Tee (an initiative of the World Golf Foundation), which provides learning facilities and educational programs promoting character development and life-enhancing values through golf.
