Who are SAP’s most important competitors?
SAP continues to be the world leader in enterprise applications, analytics, and mobility, and aims for leadership in the cloud and database markets. Our chief competitors in the applications market are IBM, Oracle, and Microsoft. Key competitors in the business analytics market include IBM (Cognos), SAS Institute, and Oracle (Hyperion). The mobile market is still highly fragmented. Competitors with overlapping offerings include Antenna, as well as Spring Wireless (an SAP Ventures portfolio company). In the cloud market, we face line-of-business on-demand players such as Salesforce.com, Workday, and NetSuite, as well as Oracle (including Oracle’s recent acquisitions of RightNow and Taleo). Principal competitors for our technology and database products include IBM, Microsoft, and Oracle. We also compete with specialized vendors in sub-segments of our offerings, depending on the product or service offered, or local market served.
