The location in Karlsruhe is the historic base of Global Research and Business Incubation. The location was founded in 1987 as a strategic investment, in collaboration with the Technical University of Karlsruhe. The goal of the institution is to work on joint projects with academic and research partners, including the university's computer science department and institutions such as the Forschungszentrum Informatik (FZI) and the Fraunhofer IOSB.
The team in Karlsruhe also manages the Future Energy Center.
