Future Public Security Center: improving crisis management and civil protection

Firefighter saving lives—a goal of the future public security center is to create user-oriented solutions for civil protection and emergency response The Future Public Security Center, located in Darmstadt, Germany, is a joint effort between Global Research and Business Incubation, academic partners, and future users to create user-oriented solutions for civil protection and emergency response.

The lab is designed to experiment with technologies that impact IT support during major disasters and provides insight into future IT trends that support user interaction for effective crisis management. One of the center's highlights is the multi-touch wall, which provides precise area maps, as well as information about the number and location of relief units. These multi-functional walls could be a tool for the "workplace of the future" in the public security sector.
