Founded by Global Research and Business Incubation, NICTA, and Fraunhofer, the Future Logistics Living Lab is a work, demonstration, and event space located at NICTA's Australian Technology Park offices in Sydney. The lab provides a collaborative platform for logistics companies, research organizations, universities, and IT providers to work together to investigate real-world problems and trends, develop and test prototypes of new products and services, and showcase innovative technologies that will provide logistics solutions for the future.
Featuring a large exhibition area, the lab demonstrates a scenario along an end-to-end wine supply chain from order to delivery. Physical components, interactive elements, and a logistics-themed environment provide a tangible experience so visitors can explore, interact with, and understand how the latest technology will work in practice.
Participants in the lab can also share their own projects with the collaborative research teams. The lab provides an ideal environment to deploy commercially-supported breakthrough technologies, apply next-generation technology solutions in a risk-free setting, and understand critical industry needs that drive future technology directions. It involves customers in the R&D of new products and services and provides them with the space to hold meetings with partners and conduct business together.
The Future Logistics Living Lab focuses on the optimization and orchestration of logistics services across multiple service providers, modes of transportation, and countries, considering efficiency, visibility, traceability, and sustainability of goods. It addresses the following research themes to solve current inefficiencies in the industry:
