Doug Merritt is currently the President of SAP Labs and Executive Vice President and General Manager, Performance Optimization Applications at SAP Business Objects. Throughout his tenure at SAP, Merritt has been responsible for creating and driving the Business User category. Business User solutions make SAP business processes and data more easily available to a broad community of users – from information workers to CFOs. Under Merritt’s leadership, the Business User group brought its first product to market in 2006 and is experiencing explosive growth - now playing a significant role in driving software license revenue for SAP.

Merritt has over two decades of leadership experience in the enterprise software industry, heading up product, sales, marketing and strategy groups. A frequent speaker at industry events and functions, he has a long track record of quickly ramping up and dramatically growing product revenue in large organizations, including PeopleSoft and Oracle Corp.

Previously, Merritt was founder, President and CEO of Icarian, Inc., later acquired by Workstream Corp., a pioneer in the online human capital talent management category. At Icarian, Mr. Merritt raised $95 million from leading venture capital firms and signed a host of Fortune 1000 companies as customers. Earlier, Mr. Merritt served in various leadership positions for Patrol Software (acquired by BMC Software), Powersoft (acquired by Sybase) and Accenture/Andersen Consulting.

Mr. Merritt holds a B.S. in Business from the University of the Pacific. He is based in SAP Labs in Palo Alto, Calif.
