Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G), headquartered in New Jersey, is one of the largest electric and gas utility companies in the United States with $29B in total assets. Like most utilities, PSE&G used to follow equipment manufacturer recommendations to repair or replace assets using a calendar-based approach. Not anymore.

PSE&G selected OSIsoft, Inc.’s PI System as the foundation for a proactive, condition-based approach to predicting equipment failures—before they occur. PSE&G chose the PI System because it allows the company to store both existing control system data and additional operational data in a central repository. The PI System also interfaces to the company’s SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module and to SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence Platform.
