A Look into the Crystal Ball: Enterprise 2.0 Business Applications
SAP NEWSBYTE - October 27, 2009 - In a roundtable at SAP® TechEd 2009 Vienna, SAP showcased two prototypes featuring customer-centric innovations for agile and collaborative companies in the era of Web 2.0. The first prototype "Gravity" was presented by SAP Research. Gravity is providing real-time, cloud-based collaborative business process modeling within Google Wave. It is an example of the ongoing efforts on behalf of SAP to explore innovative and collaborative technologies, such as Google Wave, in ways that can benefit customers.
The second prototype shown – the social network analyzer – aggregates existing enterprise data by using business intelligence techniques. It helps to find entities or people based on multiple criteria, understand their relationships, connect with them, and get up-to-date statistics on the business relationships in a company.
The session brought together SAP experts Dr. Alexander Dreiling, Timo Elliott, and Orestis Terzidis, and their high-profile guests, who included Prof. Dr. Helmut Krcmar, of the Technical University Munich, and Lars Rasmussen and Stephanie Hannon, both from Google. Discussions centered on how innovations around Web 2.0 are affecting organizations’ abilities to optimize performance and how enterprise solutions that leverage these innovations can provide the ability to optimize business performance.
