Manufacturing 2.0: Manufacturing in the Age of Joint Value Creation

The time is ripe for radical rethinking of the application architectures, delivery, and supporting business models that support the backlog and accelerating investments required to support the new realities of demand-driven manufacturing. Force-fitting monolithic applications into manufacturing operations is costly, risky, time-consuming, and ultimately creates barriers to manufacturing agility and responsiveness - defeating the original intent. Leveraging scarce manufacturing skills, new user centric development tools, mobile and RFID sensor technologies, and collaboration tools with strategic design and manufacturing partners should all be part of your new IT recipe for meeting the needs of demand-driven manufacturing. AMR Research has coined this thought-provoking strategy as Manufacturing 2.0 - which will help manufacturers and vendors embrace the new world of demand-driven manufacturing operations.
